Mint tea or mint extract at half a capful in four ounces of water, shoot it down. Bye bye cramps.

Potassium helps with cramps, usually in the leg muscles. It is taken from the muscles when you eat a lot of sugar and carbs (it is needed for their metabolism - use in your body) if you don't consume enough. You can add potassium to your diet by eating bananas, or by eating potatoes (baked, not boiled). Potassium is water soluble - it leaches into the cooking water. The up side of that is that you can take a raw potato, slice it thin (with the skin - all the minerals lie just under the skin of the potato) and let it sit in a big glass of water. In the morning you drink the water.

The kinds of cramps you get from menstruating is different - that is helped best by taking magnesium every few hours while you have the cramps.

Potassium is an electrolyte which helps the muscles work. If it is too low the muscle can't function properly so it contracts or cramps.
