How do I start conversation?

I can never think of anything to say when I am around her the only time we talk is when she talks to me. I am too shy how do I break this. I want to be not shy by next school year. I have liked this girl all year please advice.

hey how are you or hey whats up or when your at school hey want me to walk u to class

if all else fails, give her a note saying you like her.
