there's a guy i like and whom i have liked for some time, and we get along really well, and people think he likes me too, but he's got a girlfriend (nevermind the fact that she looks like an ogre and is way too tall for him and has no personality). well, i'm starting to like someone else that we both know (they're not close friends or anything), so is it okay if i ask him for advice on this other guy? i just want to make sure, i'm thinking that maybe it'll help me think of him as "just a friend" or something.

I'm fully aware that it is a bitchy thing to say and thought that my irony would come through. Clearly, it didn't, but be aware that it's there.

Also, he's often complaining about what a ***** she is to him, so I'm sure she's not a shining example of humanity either

Ask away. He has a girlfriend, you shouldn't worry about asking him guy advice. If he does have issues with it, maybe it will give him the kick he needs to get rid of his dead weight current girlfriend.

If you want to think of him as "just a friend" then i would say go ahead. If you think that at some time or another you will want to start a relationship with him then i wouldnt ask him about it. Its better to leave him guessing then to throw it in his face. As far as what you said about his girlfriend. I think that its really imature to pass judgment on her just because you are jelouse of her. There is abviously some reason that he has chosen to be with her. maybe she has a great personality in wich you seem to be lacking....

Sounds like your friends "ogre' is a lot prettier than you are on the inside... If you like someone else, go for it but leave your friend out of it
