I learned the sex of the baby beforehand. That way, you can prepare for the baby in the correct colors. Yellow and green become bland FAST. There's nothing cuter than a pink or blue bundle; and trust me, "is it a girl or boy?" gets annoying in no time at all. The surprise you feel when you are told at the sonogram what the gender is, is equal to that (if not more) excitement than finding out when it is born. I have done it both ways, and I would prefer to know before without contest.

I'll find out the sex, so that I can prepare before the baby comes. I can buy little baby shoes and clothes. I can paint the room a certain color, so that there are no paint fumes left when the baby arrives. I can buy some toys. Also, I can research on how to take care of a certain sex of baby, so that I could be a better father and not risk any negative development. I think it's better to be prepared.

First, I feel that either way you are surprised. I found out with my son and want to find out with the baby I'm carrying now (I have a feeling it's a girl). I want to be prepared and have the little pink dresses and whatnot. It's a personal decision though.

I had 2 pregnancies and found out the sex of my children. I wanted to know out of curiosity and also to get a head start on clothing for them and the nursery theme. Congratulations and good luck with your baby!
