at around 56,57 mph the front end starts to vibrate so bad it feels like the wheel is going to run off.my mechanic checked it and said everything is tight under the front end.I trust him been doing business with him along time if I can't do the work myself then he does it.Anybody have any ideas as what is causing it.

i had it aligned, wheels rotated and balanced,no bent rim no loose tie rods,or sway bars,no shock problem,it feels like it is in the left front, and the damper is on the right, already replaced twice.I was wondering if it could be the steering knuckle assembly.after all that was done 3 months ago.I drove it to chapel hill and back running 80 and it did perfect.

Have an alignment done and make sure they pay attention to your caster angle. Most places don't. That will also cause it. Or the steering stablizer like someone else mentioned. Both are cheap and practical places to start. From there check your trac bar and the mounts and then move to tie rod ends, axle u joints, ball joints, etc.

You most likely have a defective Steering Stabilizer Shock. This is mounted in the front suspension, and runs parallel to the ground. If it is leaking at all, it's defective. I have also seen them "bind" in spots and cause steering shudder. I'd replace that, and I think it will cure your problem. HTH, Good Luck!

steering damper, track bar and tie rod ends and sleeves, check for loosening, but i could be sure that your issue is about the steering damper which is very near of the track bar is just like a shock looks like, but it is more small though , hope this helps

it could be a number of things. wheels, tires, struts/shocks, axles (if 4x4). the list goes on and on. have him try swapping the tires/wheels from front to back. if that doesnt move the vibration then keep moving down the list.

Wheel balance probably, or out of round tires, or a bent wheel.
