Some of the greatest music ever written is "religious," e.g., whole batches of Bach. And if you want to bathe in the light of human joy and aspiration, American gospel singing will satisfy no end. It can be "Swing Low Sweet Chariot," "Amazing Grace," "A Further Walk with Thee," and on, and on.
For general religious music I'm partial to the old masters - Handel's "Messiah" and Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring."
I also love the Latin Christmas stuff which is celebratory and happy - and really good for dancing.

Gospel song--"Amazing Grace," and "In the Garden" are still my favorites. I still like some of the classic church hymns, the music if not the message.
Christmas song--I don't really like Christmas music that much, secular or religious, probably because of having to listen to it continuously while working at Rite Aid and then Home Depot. I have a special animosity towards anything sung by Bing Crosby, because for some reason, the HD powers-that-be decided that 80% of the songs they played during the holiday season should consist of Bing's incessant warbling.

I absolutely love "Little Drummer Boy" by David Bowie and Bing Crosby, and I actually own the soundtrack to "A Charlie Brown Christmas". And I have a weak spot for most Christmas songs, really.

I'm not so much into gospels or Christmas music, but on a related note, one of my favorite artists is Luca Signorelli, the Italian Renaissance painter who produced a lot of amazing religious art.

I like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. And I may not believe in god but I love Christmas. It's a nice time of year.

Actually, I have a book of Hymns on my bookshelf.....and being a self-professed poet, I like some of the poetry in it. No real favorites, but some of them are quite beautiful.
As for the christmas songs, I turn off my hearing aid most of the time. :-/

I hate Christmas, but I love Christmas music. My favoite carol would have to be "O Holy Night:. It's beautiful. Don't really care about the message, but that's not why I'm listening to it in the first place, now is it?

Oh Holy Night. There are some really great versions of that song where the singer just belts out those notes. Mariah Carey's version is one of them.
(I grew up listening to my sister play that CD every year.)

not really gospels or Christmas-songs.
But i do really like the religious singer Amy Grant. Specially her song 'If these walls could speak" i like very very much. Even if i know that almost all her songs are about God, religion and faith.
