If "god" is perfect then why would he create something that he would have to destroy??? (Mankind) In the bible it states that he destroyed a city for being gay, and once again he flooded it (You know the ark). If he was perfect then he wouldn't have made a mistake and have to correct it with destruction. Or is there something I'm missing?

And I understand about free will. But a perfect god would have not made the options that he would have to create options... He is perfect right?

I think it went much further than Gay. Much of the old writing were of a vengeful God. One whose name you could not mention. Jesus freed us from the old testament. Beside Jesus told us to love your brother, sounds pretty perverted to me. But also pretty open minded. His first invite to heaven was a theif wasn't it. If God is good and the Devil is evil both without the other concept in them aren't they equals in some sense. Hell was in the times of the Bible only a burning pit for the evilest of criminals outside the gates of Jerusalem not someplace of eternal damnation

The Bible is difficult. There are various interpretations on it and most of them are incorrect (for example, someone may take one line from say The Book of Job or the Gospel According to Mark and remove it from its original context). Much of the Bible reflects the theological beliefs of the time (for example, some of the Bible is written by God-fearing men). What I would suggest doing is seeing how the Bible fits into today's world for a better understanding for the book (example: here in the USA one is not executed for adultery as one would be in the Bible). Obviously, things have changed.

In terms of God as Creator, a Roman Catholic priest once told my philosophy class that God created us out of love. Being that I am too lazy to have a whole philosophical discussion about this, I would suggest reading Haught's What is God, a great book and try Moral Wisdom by James Keenan. However, always remember, we will never understand God...but those books help anyway lol.

Also, formulate your own opinion on God. Perceptions of God can be personal...remember that.

God is perfect, not the people..free will IS the key, people choose things and unfortunately they choose wrong things the majority of the time. If He were to make us the way He wanted with no free will or anything that would be controlling us which isnt very fair..God said He's a fair God but if we do wrong we get punished, and the satan guy is succeeding at ruining everything, so God's got to do what He's got to do, so there you go.

The way I always saw it, if he is perfect and he created perfect beings, then we'd all be perfect and there would be no reason for the creation. However if he created imperfect beings, they would have to work and struggle and perhaps suffer to get to perfection. Who wants little spoiled brats running around?

Now look at it from our point of view. We have this idea of "God" or "god", and he is perfect. So naturalistically, we have an innate ability to possess an idea of perfection, a standard to achieve. To have faith is to remember and hold onto that idea during the hardest of times. To live life is to approach perfection, unless you die. Then, I guess you've earned the perfection. You are one with infinity

Okay with this part said I hope this helps out

Daring the time All these events took place could anyone really say who are how that information was written down on any scroll's or tablets and knew what to write to make the proper teachings to be learned. we know someone took the time to write all that information but we cannot say want there level of intelligences they had to really understand the full knowledge of the time of events that took place and after this was finished in that time span of the past. So yes we must just only have faith a rely on the information that we do have and learn from that.

There is something you are missing.

God did not "correct" anything because He did not make any mistakes. He knew perfectly well what would have happened even before he created the angels (including Lucifer who later became Satan). You said that you understand free will. Now add to that love. And thirdly, do you know what will be the final outcome of this cosmic conflict? God knew all of that AND STILL WENT AHEAD WITH HIS CREATION.

If you think about God, and come to understand him, the answer is really quite simple. God is not that much different than you and I, just a whole lot smarter. When you become a parent, you will want the very best that you can give your child. You won't help your child learn by doing his homework for him. You need to guide him along, but for the lesson to be learned, the child needs to do the thinking and the work himself. God is no different. He wants to give you all that he has because he has unconditional love for you. Beware those people who have changed his teachings over time to fit their own agenda. God is perfect, but the teachings and stories passed down over time are not. Come to know God on your own, in your own way. Not in the way others tell you to believe. When you do, peace will fill your soul. God is not vengeful, nor does he want you to fear him. What he wants is for you to learn how sweet life is to prepare you for what lies ahead. You cannot know sweetness if you have never known bitterness. You would never understand pleasure if you never knew pain. Think about it and decide what feels best for you.

He DID create everything perfect! But Lucifer wanted to take a position higher than God in the Heavens, and thus was cast out, (earth), then being God, he did not want to "force" mankind to serve him, and therefore gave them a choice.... so the Devil in the form of a serpent "tempted" Eve, she pertook of forbidden fruit, and the cycle began of "Good vs "evil". God is no respector of persons, He beckons us in our hearts to follow him, but the ultimate decision is ours. And it just so happens that Evil has a great hold on mankind, but God is patient, giving all of us time to come to him before the corruptness needs to be dealt with, such as with the flood.

People (and gods, I imagine) seldom waste their time doing things they know they can do perfectly.

I think what people aren't considering is the idea that we exist here to learn something - Earth is a training ground or a place of education. Our essence comes here to participate in an interactive learning experience that can best be learned as one of the characters. We chose how and why (and even who with) we learn something of interest to our own personal higher self (our own part of the Cosmic energy that animates us).

Things happen because we want them or because we fear them - not because some white haired old gentleman wrote it in his book.

The devil or the enemy is this existences is tendency toward self doubt, fear, disease & lack (the 4 horsemen perhaps could be encompassed in these terms). It is not a demon or a devil - it is these negative emotions that do us damage here and can take us off the path that we planned for. Nothing to fear but fear itself is quite real and true.

No one said god was perfect (in my opinion), they said it was all powerful. It can do anything because god is the cosmic energy that animates everything in the universe. It is all powerful because without it we would all just be dust in the wind, so to speak.

Yes you are missing something. Like most people you are looking at it from A to Z.
God sees it like this A to Z to A to A to Z to Z to Z to A. In other words, God lives outside of time.

Before the angels were even made, God knew that man would fall. Before he made anything, he knew all those who would come to love and hate him. And here is the kicker, before he made anything, he is at the culmination of humanity, the redemption of mankind already redeemed. In short, He is already at the end before the beginning.
Now the obvious question is why.

When Satan fell God was faced with a small situation.
Satan has free will and as such thought himself to be more then he is, (many people have that problem). So when Satan fell, what was God to do? He could wipe out Satan and his host but that would have the other angels serving out of fear not love.
So he decided that he would create a being that would know about him but not see him. This being would have the will to love God or hate him.
And God would love this being no matter what.

But God is a just and holy God so sin cannot be in God's presence. The Bible speaks of Sons of darkness, and Jesus told the Pharisees that their father was the devil. So God knows who belongs to him and who will never belong to him.

When man could not handle the old covenant, God decided that He Himself would en robe himself in flesh and walk among the creation he created so that no one could point a finger and say
"You dont understand what it is like to be in the flesh, to have its desires and hungers." Now God can say "Yes I have been tempted on all counts like you." Jesus is God in the flesh.

Now when the time is full, God will have fair justice on Satan by giving him time to try and persuade men that God is fake, a fool, stupid, does not exist, hates man, does not care, is evil, is made up etc, etc.
So when God cold busts Satan and his host, he has done it fairly to all His creation, by beating the devil at his own game, but with love instead of hate. People do not loke the idea of God being a goody two shoes but when he gets mad they dont like that either. You cant please everyone, you know that.

Gods will is supreme. I do not understand it at times and sometimes I do not like it, but it is the only thing that is going to last beyond this earth.

And if there is no God, I have lost nothing, if there is and I refuse to believe it, I lose everything.

Now you asked that if God is perfect why did he make options (or something like that). Well man has created the machine. Does it have the capacity to love? What is Love? The ability to choose to love or not to love? If we have no love for anything then do we feel for anything? Are we a machine? Did God create a machine or a thinking being? God made us in his image and that image was the capacity and the ability to love, hate, cry, laugh, morn and be happy. All these God has and imparted them to us. The only thing that God cannot do is lie.
And I dont know religion, that will kill you. Even God hates religion.
He wants a realationship. I am not perfect, but I know one who is.
You have the freedom to hate him and despise him but he will believe in you till the day you die. If you chose not to accept the blood of Jesus, then no one can help you. Or you can ignore that too and take your chances that people like me are whacked out.
It is your choice. God bless and Good luck.

Bottom Line, there is no one on this earth that knows the mind of GOD or could even come close to explaining the way God does things. Notice that I don't refer to God as he or she because we don't really know for sure. Yes Jesus was supposedly a male but do we really know for sure, no we don't. He was the son of God but in the Bible he refers to himself as the son of man, why, I don't know and neither does anyone on this earth. As I've said no one knows the mind of God, but Jesus did say that if "you have seen me then you have seen the Father". I can only assume what he meant by that just as preachers all over the world assume things about God . But they don't really know any more than you or I. Preachers all over this country stood in their pulpits and instructed their congregations to vote for George Bush and what a supreme blunder that has turned out to be, he fooled them all didn't he. The point I'm trying to make is, read the Bible yourself and ask God to give you the answers and maybe you'll know the truth but you probably won't be able to explain it to mortals like me.
