People follow Scientology because they're looking for something to believe in when other religions may have failed them or not interested them. In terms of celebrities, it certainly helps that Scientology is "hip" -- it keeps the attention of the press. For everyone else, however, I think the reason is that people need something to believe in, and space aliens are no more or less believable than Jesus rising from the dead or Jonah getting swallowed by a whale.

Most people whose choose a religion do so to find one that fits their lifestyle, monetary needs, ability to do what they want and when they want, freedom of devotion, etc. Why do people pick religions that worship snakes, or an invisible man/woman (God), statues, etc?
Who the hell knows why people choose religions they love to follow others do not have a mind of their own and need a fallback position to blame or give credit to. Look at all the athletes who say "thanks you Jesus for the touchdown", do they ever say "Damn you Jesus for letting me get tackled"? Religion is just used as a convenience, if it works use it , if it doesn't don't use it.

Its a cult in my opinion. Understand that all questions will be answered. Why do people need a building called a church to be part of a religion? You give them your money to stay alive...church is a business. Religion was made into a business. If god is everywhere, why do we need a building? Wait that's a question. I should enter that one.

because some people need to have a religion or a cause tell them how they should live life, instead of just the law of nature and apply that to a life.

well because they htink science and religioj cant connect, which is stupid im catholic but fully believe that that god is realy but i DO NOT belive god said "let there be water" and there was water i belive thatscience and religion connect.i am NOT agiainst other religions but what i dont like about scientolgy is that it totally think religion 9god) is nothing i eman science and religion connect not oppose.

because popular people like "celebs" are into weird religions like scientology so people just kinda follow what they do. but i doubt it if they really are invloved or really care that much. its kinda like modonna and kahballa(however you say it?)
