I am on a very tight budget but I would like to visit Brazil. Are there alternate travel methods? IE smaller carriers? Cargo planes? I am serious! Please help! This a family issue and I need to go but I do not have enough money to get there.

SHOP, SHOP SHOP.

From my experience the best is to just keep shopping on line.
Also look in the Travel section of the Sunday New York times you can find the lowest. But to try and go by road or cargo etc... it can end up costing you more. So just shop for a low airline fair.

Try :

Best to you.

You didn't say where you were leaving from, so it's kind of hard to tell what is the best way, but you will probably find that a normal flight is as cheap as it gets.
With gas prices what they are, it would be quite expensive to drive. Of course, you could try hitch hiking, but that would take forever and is somewhat dangerous.

I'd still check air fares.

You could go many ways. Hitchhike, buses, trains, boat---- especially look into freight lines that have some passenger accomodations.

Of course have all the necessary shots and paperwork.

Try contacting a tramp steamer line out of some of the southern ports.

Try contacting fedex or DSL for a courier job hand delivering packages.
