Why won't God chat with me?

Question

I've been told numerous times to ask God for guidence or pray for guidence. I've even tried praying and asking God. There is no answer. I'm an atheist, but I think that there's a possibility of a god. So, if God loves everyone why won't he just send an angel down or something? If He's omnipotent and omnicient, He'd know that I'd believe in Him if there was propf, and He'd know what I'd consider proof.

I am NOT athiest, and I still struggle with this question. But consider this...

As a child, you never once saw santa, never heard his sliegh, yet you believed in him beyond a shadow of a doubt. This was because your parents, or society, or friends, or anyone that WAS NOT santa was giving you proof that you bought...

So if GOD reached down and slapped you in the face, would you believe, or would you eventually question his proof as you eventually questioned the proof os santa....

It's not a great analogy, but also consider this....

GOD has made each and ever human an offer... when you die, you can can spend life in paradise, or you can spend your life in dispare.

There is one and only one thing you must do to get into heaven, BELIEVE in him.

Why would he hop down from heaven and scream in everyone face, "HEY, HERE I AM PEOPLE!!" so that everyone will just know he is there and then believe so that they can get what they want out of the after life?

But you must always remember.... He who has an ear, let him hear. God is speaking to you, you just have to listin

God communicates with us in various forms. Are you really listening? It could be something that you read in the next article you see, or see in the next TV show you watch, or hear in the next song you listen to. It may be in that little whisper you hear within...or heck, even the next answer you get on Yahoo Answers! :)

God has provided us with ample proof and still we don't believe...what makes you think an angel would make any difference to you? Wouldn't you just think you'd lost your mind? God is much more subtle and graceful than that.

Patience my friend. Really, this is true. Keep asking and talking because in His perfect timing, God will answer your prayer. Work on your faith and believe with all of your heart that God IS going to help you. He may not answer with what you have in mind, but accept HIM, and your life will change. It will change for the better. You are not going to "hear" God speaking to you, but you will beyond the shadow of a doubt KNOW that HE is there and that He is listening. Stay with it and also work on your faith. Pray every hour, every minute. Don't give up on Him, because God wants to help you. Really. I know this. Have faith and work on your attitude. God is listening to you; continue to seek Him, He will not betray you; you must not betray Him. Just BELIEVE.

God doesn't answer to us. And some of his greatest gifts are not giving us things we ask for.

Just because you don't "hear" an answer doesn't mean it isn't there, staring you in the face.

You said yourself though, you're an athiest, so God doesn't know you.

God doesn't talk to people he doesn't know.

If you want a meaningful relationship with him, get on your knees and tell him that. But you better mean it if you do, he knows your heart. And all the things he will bless your life with, and the places he can take you are not for the faint of heart.

Are you asking Him with a sincere heart? Or do you have doubt? See God owes us nothing ... if you ask with a: I will believe if I could see you type deal ... you are only testing God. Have your parents ever said to you, " ... don't test me!" It's kind of the same. You believe by faith. Understand also, that maybe the answer has been revealed to you. Are you really looking for truth. Also remember, God is a spirit ... you are not going to see a spirit with the physical eye ... understand?

If god just sent angles down to earth every time someone doubted him, what would that be telling the world? They would only believe in him because he is"great and performs miracles"That's not what he wants. He wnats people to believe in him because they want to, because they truely believe that he is above all and understand that he loves us more than you can imagine. Did he not create an entire world for us? He did.

God wont speak to you in an obvious way. He's in the little things, everyday life. Maybe you need to pray to him to maybe help you find someone in your life to help or guide you. Ask not how he can help you, but how you can help him. Ask him what HE wants, not what you want. Pray to him asking for him to give you an oppertunity tomorrow to be a good citizen or Christian. Ask him if he wants you to join a voulenteer group, or help someone. You neeeeed to ask HIM what HE wants you to do. That's the only way to start

God wants you to have faith in Him, that means without proof..and He doesnt want people testing Him which is what you are doing..praying to see if He will send an angel or something. He wants you to actually want Him, not to test and see if He really exists

Wouldnt that be easy, but anway I believe it would defeat the purpose. We are here to learn how to get along in a tuff world, we have to overcome to become stronger. If God did everything for us then we wouldnt do anything, we know this to be true with kids that never move out. I believe Gods do speak to us, we just have to listen closer. Peace be with you.

God answers you question every time you breath, every time you see the sun rise and set, feel the breeze against your should and even though man continues to try to duplicate life he can't that is God..
To put it real simple life is god and if you are still here asking the question of why wont God chat with me? .. it indicates he that he haven't forgotten you because even though you continue to defy his existence he still let you continue to live

sorry to hear about your misfortune...

although, I have to question are you actually "listening?"

I think God is answering you, but you probably don't even realize it....

...and then the question remains are you asking "earnestly", or are you just trying to pull his strings? (God isn't a puppet! And, if you expect him to jump through loops for you - you're sadly mistakened.)

Again, if you're serious about reaching communion with God - keep trying. Look for answers in the simple things...
- like the way he provides for you...
- like the "good" advice a friend gives you, at just the right time...
- like certain thoughts being put in your mind (and certain questions...)


Maybe God is trying to "convict" you; and you're being stubborn...there are lots of possibilities.
Either way: Keep Trying.
