According to 1800duilaws.com, you may expect one or more of the following penalties for a 1st offense DUI in Missouri:

JAIL: Up to a maximum of six (6) months imprisonment.

FINE: Up to $500.00. Court costs may also be between $10.00 and $100.00.

PROBATION: The general terms of probation are no drinking, do not break the law, go to SATOP, etc. Probation usually lasts 1 to 2 years. A conviction with probation is commonly referred to as a "Suspended Execution of Sentence" or SES.

SUSPENSION OF DRIVING PRIVILEGES: A criminal conviction of a first time DUI results in a 30-day suspension of driving privileges followed by a 60-day restriction to driving only to and from work, in the course of employment, or to alcohol treatment. There are no hardships or exemptions available. This suspension goes on the person's driving record. The court may also require that a person be restricted to driving a motor vehicle which has an ignition interlock device while on probation. The device costs $50.00-100.00 to install and $50.00-$75.00 per month to maintain. A conviction will result in 8 points being assessed against the driver's license.

you might think IRISH is overstating the cost's, but it isn't far from the truth. You're insurance rates will go up 3-5 points (massachusetts safe driver incentive progam) and once you are able to drive again, you will lose one point for each year that you have a vehicle registered. A point translates into maybe an extra $100.00 in insurance cost. Then you might consider what it will cost you to find alternate transportation while you are not driving due to lose of license. Also, how it might hold you back in both the feild of your employment and ability to advance.
lawyers fee -------------$800
Court cost---------------$300
Fines---------------------$500
Fees----------------------$300 (head injury foundations, M.A.D.D.....)
Lic. Reinstatement---$150
Insurance surchrg----$1500
Emplymnt potntial----$2000/yr*3=-$6000.00

You add it up, it will give you something to think about.

Total costs should be around $10,000. That's why I have cab companies in my cell phone. A whole lot cheaper to go and return, not to mention the relaxation while there knowing you don't have to drive home.

Well, if you are a Kennedy, probably nothing. Of course, that may just work in Washington DC.

Best advice is to ask a local attorney who does DUI defense. Most will NOT charge for a first visit.
