Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe Jesus was God. They believe he was the son of God and a separate entity. And the second part doesn't make sense. They know there is only 1 true god.

The premise of this question is false. The Scriptures clearly teach that Jesus is a god, but Jesus is not Almighty God.

(John 1:1,2) The Word was with God, and the Word was a god. This one was in the beginning with God

(Isaiah 9:6) For there has been a child born to us, there has been a son given to us; and the princely rule will come to be upon his shoulder. And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God

(Deuteronomy 6:4) Jehovah our God is one Jehovah

(1 Corinthians 8:4-6) There is no God but one. For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him

Said another way, Jesus is not part of a trinity. He is the son of the Almighty God. There was no deception in his words. He has always been with the Father and was involved with the creation of this earth. He has played a major role in our existence and our future eternal life. His power and position with the Father makes him a god, but not the Almighty God. That distinction belongs solely to the Father, who is Almighty in power and strength. There is no one higher than Him. Hope that answers your question.

To answer your question as Jehovah's first creation, Jesus used his fathers power to create what he was asked to. In this he said he took great delite in pleasing him.
Jesus was God like, but lacked eternal life until later. When he gave his earthly life he gained eternal life from Jehovah. At that time he became 'A' God.
He is alive and well in spiritual form today, building his church to give it to his father when the right time comes. Study link below...enjoy!

yes. he is a god. but not the one and only god. he is the one and only god jehovahs son.
John 17:3
"(Jesus prayed to his Father:)This is eternal life, that they know thee the only true God ("who alone art truly God,") and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent"(notice that Jesus reffered not to himself but to his Father in heaven as "the only true God")

John 20:17
"Jesus said to her (Mary Magdelene), 'Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethern and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.'"(So to the resurrected Jesus, the Father was God, just as the Father was God to Mary Magdelene. Interestingly, not once in the scripture do we find the father addressing the Son as "my God"
next time Jehovah witnesses call on your door ask for literature on this question or for them to explain it in more detail to you. hope this answers the question for you.
