Check this out: http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/ssdi.cgi

Scroll down to search for other names, it's free unlike it's cousin at Ancestry.com. Pretty good search engine too. I found two Shade Gibsons, but not in Alabama. Their information is:

DOB: May 18, 1900 and DOD: Nov. 1981 in Huntington, West Virginia, SSN: 234-05-5883

DOB: Sept. 13, 1930 and DOD: August 16, 1994 in Varney, Kentucky. SSN: 405-38-8630

It doesn't show where Shade was born, is it possible that he was born in AL and moved? In either case, leaving the state blank creates a nationwide search. I hope this is helpful to you.

I went to rootsweb's WorldConnect page:

http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/

and put in surname: gibson / Given name: Shade... and came up with 18 entries.

Since I have no idea of even an approximate date of birth/death your Shade Gibson I also checked the Social Security Death Index:

http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/

There were a couple there.

If you can get to a local public library find out if they provide free access to either/both ancestry.com or heritagequest.com. You can put Shade Gibson in there as well.

One other resource is the LDS (Mormon) web site:

http://www.familysearch.org

Hope these are of some help. If you even have an approximate time period when your Shade Gibson lived it would be good to include it (For example: "He was my great grandfather and died sometime in the 1940s).

Good luck

Bill
