If you truly know that they are straight and single. Then it should be something separable, so that each can take his with him when he goes.
Or take then starter sets of goodies for the kitchen. Some of the basic Jewish traditional starter items are a container for Kosher salt full of Kosher salt , and a wonderful fresh loaf of Challah bread. Each of these relates to wishing the household abundance. I would also add other yummy quality basics like nice olive oil, some good coffee, and some good teas, maybe some really good cheeses, crackers and fresh herbs. Place all in a a nice reusable basket with some nice cloth napkins and wine glasses. They can use these to create some really nice simple homehade meals, or to go on a picnic with a special young lady.

I would think the same as for one single straight man moving into a new apartment - something for the kitchen if they're not already set, a good bottle of wine unless they're teetotalers, or an Xbox 360 if you've got the scratch.

a wheelbarrel full of gifts such as: soap, towels, snacks, cologne, socks, underware, unbreakable plates & utincils, games, deoterant, cleaners, duffelbags, vehicle stuff, shaving cream, calendar, phone cards, photo album, music, movies, new controlers....
guy toys, pretty much sums it up. But they never think of things for themselves that isn't a toy! So if they have a particular job, things that will help them to get ready for that job. If in an apartment, forget plants! They'd rather have posters! So it depends on the type of guy and their interests.

well a gift you could get them if they are starting out for first time is stuff they are going to need in terms of cooking stuff, maybe a toaster, coffee maker, pics for walls really anything that they will need to starting out in a new house. the best thing is give them gift vouchers then they wont have too many toasters and other unwanted gifts.
gift vouchers they can buy there own stuff.
