the book of shadows is a record of rituals & spell work, it holds sacred recipies, for food, annointing oils, incense, herbal potions & brews etc. It is best to record each ritual in your bos, as well as each spell, be sure to leave room after each so that you may make notes about how successful it was. It is important to record the date and time of each ritual, also record any astrological data that you think is significant ( such as moon phase, planetary hour etc) It is not a journal, it does not record your daily activities, your book of shadows is only for your ritual and religous activity. you may want to record favorite chants as well. Perhaps even a glossery so in case you forget what a word means you can look it up, especially if you are a beginner. you also keep a section for what you are studying... like healing properties of herbs, or semi precious gems, or perhaps divination is your current topic of study, you should keep a record of all of your readings ( i like to keep a seperate journal for that because a b.o.s. would fill up quickly for the ammount that i consult the runes)

No, it's not a journal. It's more of a spell book. Mine has prayers and blessing, rituals, spells, charms, and lists of herbs and their medicinal and magikal properties, and sabbats. It's a little different for everyone, but that's the basics. You can hand write, or do an online/pc Book of Shadows. Alot of people are starting to do that nowadays (I have mine in a faery journal notebook)

It is not a journal, it is a book that you write your spells and rituals in. How well they worked, if they did, how you felt when it was done. That kind of things.
