Headache is a term that covers a head-full of aches and pains.
To get rid of a headache you have to determine the cause.
Covering the symptoms with pain killer may work on many headaches but the if cause remains, then you might actually be doing harm to yourself rather than good. So, what's up with headaches?
The first rule is: Use your head. That's right. A doctor can examine you and usually find nothing wrong. It is, however, usually within your power to figure out what is causing your headache. Headaches usually occur gradually and reflect your body's build up of tension. So, stop doing what you were doing that is causing the tension. Do you do the crossword puzzle in the morning - with old reading glasses that don't quite match your prescription any more? Do you look at the computer screen for long periods of time? Do you sit with your neck bent at a stressful angle? Is your pillow too high, too low? There are too many possibilities for someone else to guess, so figure it out yourself and stop doing it if you can. If you must do it for your work, then take regular breaks and stretch your shoulders and neck. Make sure you are drinking enough water. Take a look around you. See the distance, the sky and clouds, enjoy the sunshine. Stretch your muscles and get the blood flowing. Remove the tension in your situation and you will live more headache-free. You will also be more relaxed, and happier!
Of course there are some headaches that you can't figure out, and some that are reflections of medical problems. Eye, ear, nose and mouth areas can all have problems that cause headaches. You should see a doctor if you have a recurring headache that you can not figure out.
Rest and relaxation, and tension removing exercise will do wonders for you. Think it over. You can do it!

For the normal headache (we're not talking about a migraine, that's different) you just take a couple of aspirins or Tylenol with a nice big glass of cold water, and go lay down in a cool, preferably dark room. Relax. Oh, and don't forget to try and eat a little something so the aspirin doesn't irritate your stomach.
