hi
iexplorer.exe is the "Internet Explorer" application...
it may be in trouble processing...just end the process.. it may happen because of many instances of the application were asked to run by clicking it many times or by hitting the Enter button many times while it is active or when loading a pop-up page from a web page and the Windows Firewall is trying to block it ... or it is trying to load a web page with troubles or the application itself is no longer working properly... it is so known that WinXp and later is a smart system..just end the process and it will work properly after that...if u face more troubles about the same application just update your system by clicking the "windows update" from your start menu....or just download a fresh -new- version of the IE application and install it.... it is important to use IE but it is not critical to be afraid to end the process .... just end it..
and for other processes it is so normal to run many processes...and it is true that some of them slow down the performance of your PC cause they use alot of memory to run...just locate the process that is running under your username and it is so safe to end them if needed but those which are running under system or network service or local service..please dont end...the may affect your system...
about some answers telling u that if u ended the iexplorer.exe , your desktop will disappear...it is not true..the may mean Explorer.exe...which is Windows Explorer in oldest Windwos system and it is so important to run the graphical Interface u c .. I mean the icons and menues ...etc...
just end the iexplorer.exe but dont end Explorer.exe
enjoy it

If no longer some thing occurs, bypass to domicile windows detect/pc or My pc and spot if there is yet another stress listed lower than your familiar C (and perchance D) drives. If that would not help, have someone knowledgable take a seem at it.

No, go ahead and end it, its Internet Explorer and probably just failed closing.
Don't kill "explorer.exe" however. That is the User Interface.
If you do happen to close it, Ctrl, Alt, Delete File-> New Task And navigate to the Windows Folder on your Hard Drive and Start Explorer.exe up again to get your Interface back.
At Least on Windows XP, however I believe it also applies to 98-2000 but the names might be slightly different. Take Heed.

It's for your Internet Exploiter Browser.
Switch to Firefox with Thunderbird email and usenet.
You can't take off the one that just says explorer.exe, but the Iexplorer.exe is ok. You might want to uninstall the whole mess, it's nothing but a huge memory hog. Netscape is real good too, runs faster (not as fast as Firefox though).

It is Internet Explorer running.
It should shut down when you close IE.
Right click on IEXPLORER.EXE in the processes window
go to set priority and be sure to choose normal.
Change it to normal otherwise.
