is it a sin to mix two sayings?

in my language, Dutch, we have a saying that goes something like this:
"When two religions share a bed, the Devil lies in the middle"

We also have a saying that says:
"The Truth always lies somewhere in the middle"

can i mix those two?

Rule of thumb: If it is something that gives you even the tiniest amount of pleasure, it is a sin.

Your mixture is humorous and thought provoking and makes me happy, therefore it is a sin.

A sin is when we do something God has told us in the Bible not to do, like adultery, or if we don't do something we are supposed to do, like taking care of elderly parents. Those two sayings are merely a person's opinion. But if by putting them together, you are wanting to say the the Devil is Truth, you will be very wrong. The Bible says there is no truth in the Devil and that he is "a lier and the father of lies" and that Jesus is "the Way (to God), the Truth and the Life".

I am not so sure if it is a sin. But I am sure that by doing that, we are asking for trouble.

Just imagine, in marriage, it is 2 persons of different family background coming together. This in itself is very hard to manage, and is causing so much trouble.

When 2 persons of different religion got married and have children, (let's say one muslim, and the other is a hindu), should the parent circumsied him or put a puttu (a dot for blessing) on the forehead? Can the baby have 2?

In another situation, when face with problem, which God should they pray too?

Marriage is not just feeling good about each other. There will be a time where feeling don't come naturally. It has to be initiated. Effort had to put in to love your wife.

Thus, when one should choose a life partner, every aspect of life have to be considered.

May God bless you in your marriage.

Mix them up and it comes out:

When two religions share a bed,
either the truth, or the Devil
lies somewhere in the middle.

The bible puts it this way : do not be unequally yoked or tied to an unbeliver. It is not a sin to mix two sayings but the truth does not lay in the middle. The middle is generally a compromise.

Well mixing human perception is not a Sin but mixig a deivine relevation with a human thought to change the meaing of that devine relevation is a sin..
Like Jesus asked his followers not to eat pork, but people mixed it and said he later told that we can eat pork....this is an example of a sin leading because of mixing of thoughts....but what you are saying is not a sin...
but if you mix this what youhave said this leads to that truth is devil...or devil is truth....so check for yourself if you are changing the devine meaning or not...

Sad as it may seem, I have shared many beds, and committed many sins, with people of various religions.

I think it is safe to say that the devil and the truth are one and the same, lying in the middle, with luck.

Sure you can say what you like but I used to do the same thing with the sayings that I knew in Japanese just to see what my friends would think. It was really lost on everyone but myself that I was mixing them purposely. So mix happily away but beware that you will proabally loose meaning in the mixing.

I really like the first one, never heard that before.
if you were to mix the two you would change the meaning of the second one now wouldn't you.
The truth will set you free and that sure ain't the devil.

it's not a sin to mix 2 sayings, but those 2 in particular are pretty loaded so you might want to think about what your mixed up phrase is going to mean .... and if the meaning is blasphemous or misleading, then it's probably better not to mix them.
