what's the meaning of special trust and confidence in the fidelites and abilities of a Police Officer?

It means we place trust and confidence in police officers that we don't place in other people... just because they are police officers. It means we expect them to behave in a trustworthy and capable manner, just because they are cops. It has to do with the expectations we have of our uniformed officers... just because they wear the uniform.

PO have greater authority over the members of public so there are expectations for them to protect and do the 'right' thing. Trust are given to them as not to mis-use their power and their weapons which normal people are not equipped with. The fact that they are selected and trained to have such authorities also means they held greater responsibilities. People who mostly come across PO are mostly in their most vulnerable situations - the one looking for help or the one being suspected. People seeking help often entrust their problems, which sometimes does not even have a solution, to the PO and expect something to be done. It is thus not uncommon for uncalled for complains if they had not handle them well. If these special trust and confidence are too high and unrealistic, this gradually becomes the pain of both the public and authorities.

Sometimes you can't trust a cop...even though they say you do...I've seen cops that turn out to be bad ones, and got to jail. So not all of them are as honest they are suppose to be. But most of them are though!
