The key is to burn more energy than what you consume. Unless you have a medically required to, losing weight gradually is the best way to keep it off in the long run. It is hard to measure energy consumed and practically impossible to measure energy burned, so here are the guidelines.

- excercise.. Cardio as well as weight training. Toned muscles burn energy when you are resting.

- Avoid simple carbs - sugars, white flour, corn, fruit juices, etc.. Eat complex carb with fiber - whole wheat, millet, rolled oats,
Proteins are good, so are veggies and low-gycemic index fruits such as apples... Fats in moderation. No saturated fats. Nuts and mono/polyunsaturated fats (olive oil) are good in moderation.

- Don't starve..that's when your resolves weakens sooner or later, and subsequent binges are worse than never having dieted! Do not skip meals.. have more smaller meals including healthy snacks.

- If you need self-discipline, try yoga, meditation. They work for me. Another tool for discpline : Set and reward yourself for goals achieved... have someone keep you honest!

- Avoid diet pills... Donate that money to charity instead..

There are many "wonder" diet food ideas out there: South beach (worked for me), Atkins (avoid, IMO), Cornish, Abs Diet, cantaloupe-diet, what-cha-ma-called-it-extract-diet, etc... If it seems improbable to you, it probably is...

Tip #1: Cut out the sugar and caffeine, this will help a lot.

Tip #2: Cardio. Run.

Pushups and situps work, but you want weightloss, running and cardio, get your heart rate up is best.

I have these metal contraptions I made a few years ago. They for over your arm at the elbow. Since you can not bend your elbow you end having to throw your food in the air to get it in your mouth. Now this may seem like fun at first, however after a few days of having chili all over your face you decide to only eat when you are really hungry and solid food too. By only eating when you are hungry you loose weight.

In the last 3 weeks I have lost probably 15 pounds, I will share that with you but you have to be responsible. First, I don't eat alot of red meat. I eat alot of seafood and I eat a ton of beans....you have to get your nutrients from somewhere and you cannot skimp on anything. But my key is, I am drinking almost 3 gallons of water a day. Its really hard at first, but it works. Don't CUT stuff out, just limit it! Be responsible in your choices, and if you want to go pig out at Taco bell one day because you feel like you HAVE TO....DO IT!!!!!! Just eat healthy, excersize and enjoy life.....

You cant gain what you don't eat so therefore eat only what's "necessary" for your body needs and stick to it.
Results will be slow but attainable and steady.
Any type of exercise will help but again choose one that is
easy and steady for you to do and maintain in all seasons.
Perseverance and continued performance is the key.
Good luck

Drink lots of water, no more pop, a person can lose 5 lbs just by eliminating pop from their diet (that includes diet pop) Eat fresh fruits instead of drinking fruit juices (they have more sugar and calories and not nearly as good for you as eating the original in its whole goodness.) I hate jogging, I prefer swimming, because it is fun, I don't have to feel all sweating and nasty, it is easier on the joints, and jogging kills my knees and ankles, I also like swimming because it works all the major muscles at once. Try to add one healthy habit in a week, maybe week one try to quit drinking pop and up your water intake, week two try exercising for 15 minutes at a time (hey it all adds up) that way you don't crash and burn, you didn't put the weight on overnight and it sure won't come off over night! Maybe on week three try to limit fried food from your diet and add in more fruits and veggies, all the while keeping up on you healthier habits from the weeks before. Best of luck to you on your weight loss journey... P.S. It helps me to look at sweating as fat MELTING off of my body (I hate to sweat).

*Don't stop eating, just moderate what you're eating.
*Drink a lot of water daily.
*Do 30 minutes to one hour of exercise, but if you're new at this do it one day of exercise and the other to take a rest.
*Get a variation of exercises; like push-ups and sit-ups on Monday, walking on Tuesday, etc.
@nd you can also buy some work-out videos of Boot Camp. I know you're going to feel silly at first but it worked for me.
