TO TO ANSWERE THAT TEMPURA AND SUSHI ARE TOTALLY DIFFERNT,,,,,YES BUT THERE IS TEMPURA SUSHI!!!!Sushi is just the name of the rice that is used, not the ingredients like a lot of people think. Sashimi is the raw fish, sushi is the rice.

Anyway... to make it you plit the shrimp in half lenghwise startin at the tail but stopping befor you completly seperate the two halves, making a long shrimp strip. Dip it in tempura batter (make it yourself or by it in a box at any grocery store) and fyi it in oil until its crispy. Be sure to keep it in a long strip. Mash out the rice mixture (rice, sugar and rice wine vinegar) on a piece of sea weed. Lay the shrimp (2 pieces) on the center of rice. Pour a little shrimp sauce over the shrimp and roll it up. Slice it and there you go!!

Here is an easy recipe for tempura batter. Dry off your shrimp before dipping. Frying takes maybe 1 minute, tops, if oil is good and hot (350-375ºF). You also need to skewer your shrimp on a bamboo skewer (small, like for shishkabob) so they fry into a straight shape.

As far as wrapping them into sushi, you can get sushi directions on www.FoodTV.com

** TEMPURA BATTER **

1/3 cup ice water
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 egg yolk
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon shortening
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

In a medium bowl, mix together all ingredients. You can also add 1 tsp. of sesame seeds to batter for added crunch. Dip dry food in batter then fry in oil.
