Because people are ignorant, and they keep making up dumb-personal-excuses as to why they don't support gay marriage, saying it's a sin, blah, blah, blah.
Let's not forget that not too long ago interracial marriages were also thought of as a sin, and African Americans were not seen as "normal" either.

I'm in an interracial marriage and who's supporting it --- a few of my family members and a couple of my close friends ---it's 2006 and we still get "the treatment" when we go shopping and trying to enjoy a nice dinner in an upscale restaurant just isn't working for us average American interracial folks --- I see gays getting better treatment than us.... and better media coverage for their cause ---

You're comparing apples and oranges my friend. Marriage is about a man and a woman. Period. If you destroy marriage, where are all the new gay people going to come from?

Some people don't view race and sexuality as being on the same level. If you believe they're both simply biological, then it makes no sense to support one and not the other, but if you believe they stem from different causes, then it may make sense to look at them differently and support one and not the other.

I support both and I'm a heterosexual married woman. I think everyone who want's to be married should be. I am always amazed at how people feel qualified to say what is sin and what isn't.

To me, so long as both people in the relationship are happy, then it shouldn't matter what others think. Unfortunately, with society the way it is, people think they have a right to judge others, most of which is unfair judgement.

I support both. Homosexuality is a sin, but it is not my sin, and therefore not my worry. I see so much time being wasted on this matter, while worse crimes such as murder, rape, and drug pushing affect many more people.
