When we have a chronic illness (one that cannot be cured but will still allow us to live a normal lifespan) friends and family want to help. Do they help, or do they frustrate the muggerwumps out of you?

That depends on your family and your own personality.

I tend to have low tolerance for being "mothered" - but I do enjoy the company of others, and being able to just chill and laugh would do more to help me through an illness than having someone hover over me.

I have two chronic diseases that can't be cured, diabetes(type 1 39 years) and temporal lobe epilepsy (can't be controlled with meds). My family are the only ones who talk with me any more except my doctors. They help me alot. I don't know how to thank them for calling the paramedics and taking me to the ER to save my life.

I would let them help but make it clear that you don't need it if you say you don't, they can be a strong support for you in the long run I know cuz I'm the same way in life, but I keep getting worse but still stand my ground with them.

Wow. Tough question, with "yes" probably the only sensible answer. (For ME, anyway...) My mom can (and undoubtedly will)help me to death!
But now I've got to know: what's a muggerwump?
