Aspirin is fine, Tylenol could be fatal. Most of the time the tail will "heal" itself if the break is towards the end. If the break is close to the body you need to worry about spinal injuries. If you can't afford to take her to a vet try contacting a local rescue or shelter to see if they can offer any financial assistance, and/or discuss payment options with your local vet. Another suggestion (although not a very nice one to think about) is maybe you should find her a new home with someone who can afford to give her the veterinary care she needs/deserves. It is always a hard thing to decide but you need to do what is best for your pet.

Oh poor baby! Don't let her suffer please. Get her to a veterinarian right away. It's a bit more expensive but most urban & suburban areas have emergency 24 hour veterinary care. Also remember the reason a broken bone hurts is because the bones are not sitting in the right place. In other words...resetting a fracture alleviates the vast majority of the pain. Only a qualified veterinarian can do this after looking at an x-ray. I don't suggest giving over-the-counter medication to your cat without at least speaking with a medical professional over the phone. Cats weigh a tenth of what a human weighs, and half of what a 3 month old baby weighs! I wish your kitty a speedy recovery. Good luck!
One more thing - if you call your regular vet, even if it's after-hours, it's very likely that their answering maching/service will provide you with instructions for contacting an emergency veterinary care facility.

Some cats can take aspirin that we humans take, but only a small piece of it. However! You shouldn't try to give your cat any pain killers before talking to your vet. (S)he'll be able to tell you how much your cat should have, based on weight, age, and breed. Also, if she has a broken tail, you need to have her checked anyway.

Take her to the vet! Most places will let you arrange some way to pay the bill off. Also a quarter of an baby asprin will help reduce the swelling.

Why do people who have injured pets come on yahoo answers for help? Take your cat to the vet. You'll get better service than you will on the Internet.

DO NOT GIVE YOUR CAT ANY HUMAN MEDS!! You can kill your cat this way. If you can't afford to have a pet DON'T have one!!! This makes me so mad when people say I can't afford.......blah blah blah. Think before you get a pet.
You need to get her to a vet NOW
