People in fact bash Christians. But most of what goes under the name Christian bashing is really people's perfectly acceptable and understandable defense of their rights and of science and of themselves. A great many Christians feel that any resistance or disagreement with them is persecution of them. Very seriously.
Christians tend to say things like "Are having morals an issue?" and are totally deaf to the fact that that statement says if you are not a Christian, you have no morals. So they cluelessly offend and demean people and when they are corrected or complained about, they call it bashing and persecution.
And they say things like "I want to know what other people think. But don't bash." Which really means, "what are some other reasons that blame everybody but Christians for the result of Christian behavior?"
Christians are heavily criticized, which is not bashing, in today's society because they tread heavily on people's toes. Heavily. And answer criticism with whines about being persecuted.

I think it's because of the way some Christians force their religion on others. Also there might be resentment because America claims it's the land of the free and everyone is equal and has great oppurtunities when it really isn't; the government is heavily based on Christianity and there are still hate crimes and extreme racism. Lastly, the way Christianity doesn't except all people, especially people with traits they can't fix (like homosexuals), I think that causes resentment. But it's definitely not because they have morals.
I'm gay and that's why I automatically become offensive when Christianity comes up, but my dad's side of the family are all passionate Christians and although I don't agree with some of their views, they're still open minded and some of the best people I have ever met. My mom's side of the family (who are also Christians)...not so much.

I don't necessarily think that Christians are criticized today. Not actual, true Christians, anyway. If anything, the "crazies" are just the only ones being publicized, so they're giving a bad name to all the others. I'm not a Christian, and I try my best to respect other people, and I have many Christian friends, and all that, but whenever I think "Christian," I think of various "Christians" that aren't very Christ-like. The "God Hates Fags" and the abortion-bomber bunch. I once heard someone say "I love Christ, but I hate Christians." I think a lot of people feel that way.

Having morals is definitely an issue, when you live in a society that has few or none. As a Christian, you are a constant reminder to their souls and consciences, that how they are living is wrong. And it angers them to no end. It doesn't anger me to hear ppl say they are athiest. I feel sad for them, but I don't get angry. Yet athiest's foam at the mouth when they think they are being preached to. But if you are a Christian and know your bible. You know this will happen and get even worse before the end. And some Christians are so zealous that they come off as being ignorant, closed minded, insulting jerks to others. I've seen that and I pray......"Is this guy really my brother?"....lol......Have a good one!

Having morals isn't an issue. But a total lack of morals while preaching them to others the way Christians do certainly is. The most pathetic creature in the world is your "typical" Christian, drinking, gambling and cheating on their spouse all week long, then come Sunday, crawling up to the altar, crying and sniveling and begging forgiveness for living like a complete jackass Monday through Saturday. Then, they have the audacity to preach morals to others while they continue go out and do the same crap over again. And that's every damn one of them!

Are they really that criticized? It's the biggest religion in the world, with 2 billion members worldwide!
America is a melting pot of society, and therefore, there are a lot of different cultures about. Like the Muslims, the Jewish, the Buddhists. Many see problems with your religion, because of those who contradict it (not saying all Christians do).

Religion is a persons personal faith. He may choose in whatever way to relate to god. Christianity on the other hand states there is no other way to experience the love of god except jesus. If you believe that you haven't truly experienced the light of god. How many millions killed just coz their faith was different in the name of spreading christianity. The west has itself demeaned it coz it is synonymous with western imperialism and material consciousness and nothing else. Christian pastors today call other religions demonic cults. Just the other day i heard on TV a pastor collecting money "to win souls for jesus in the heart of demon buddhist land". What have buddhists ever done that is demonic. They are harmless peace loving ppl. Would you call the Dalai Lama a Demon? This is the language he used. They call other religions cultural practices demonic and yet themselves use underhanded tactics like "Magic divine Healing" through phony pastors to impress illiterate people. Karma does come back to bite you in the ***. Its newtons law my friend every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

i think it comes down to a number of things. the most common i've found is.
i get judged by them for NOT being christian
they refuse to accept that others are happy not being christian
they say that their way is the only way
when enything good happens, it's gods choice. yet when anything bad happens, it's 'his plan'
but the major problem I have that they attack, is that I don't take muck stock in something written well after the event (genisis) and there is no way of telling (well, that has been sufficiantly proven) that these events all happened.
if you had people sprouting today what they said then, pleople would lock them up as crazy and talking to voices.
just my 2 cents

they are being criticized because they are trying with all there might to force thier morality on a free state where people have different morales that are working just fine for them. and whos to say those morales are bad just because they have a different world view than you. i'm tired of them saying who can marry who and what can and cant be taught in schools. we have a constituion for a reason, it it says government cant establish a state religion but that is what the christians are trying to do by saying what is moral and what is not.

Morals aren't the issue here, most decent human being are decent human beings regardless of any "faith" they may have. My issue is in the "faith" that many people follow blindly without even stopping to consider the outright contradictions and fallacies in the teachings of their church. Even when the words are put directly in front of them they deny the word and blame the messenger as the devil...for example the bible is clear that it is OK to have drunken procreational sex with your father if your mother is dead and you have no brothers. I have been trying and trying to get someone to deal with that subject...they deny and walk away...Again not bashing here either, just looking for an honest dialogue.
