My psychologist says I have been hurting myself because I have been bottling up all my stress and it hurts me physically. She says that 's probably why I get so many migrains. She someone keeps doing that it can give them heart burn, high blood pressure, diarrohea, etc. This freaks me out. I think excercise is the best way, but I don't make enough time to do that all the time. I love drawing and writing but haven't much this year since I've been focused on just graduating high school : /. I think I seriously need to relax or something, my therapist even told me that I'm way too empathetic and put myself last. She says I carry everyone elses worry on my shoulders... I don't know if I do, but how can I become more healthy, and not let myself eat myself up if I am? What do you do to release stress?

If you can afford it get a therapuetic massage from someone doing deep tissue massage not just light stuff on your skin. It will get out stored up stress and is priceless, though costly. Cheaper is exercise. especially yoga and martial arts.

Also see site below that explains the attitude you need when helping others (called A New Religiion- actually fusion of religion and psychology). But it has valuable info from Positive Psychology. In 2005 Time magazine had a cover story about it. Also will help you prioritise better in your life so you take better care of yourself. Take care of yourself so you can take care of others.

Hey yeah i do the same thing...i worry about everyone elses problems and i do bottle everything up...it sucks alot and i still havent really found out what to do but you definately need a day off you just need to relax and stay home and watch movies or something...i would say get a massage but yeah you said you don't have a lot of time but if you make time you should definately do that...or write because you said you like writing and that helps when I do it too. Just try to remember that you have your own problems and you don't always have to worry about everyone else! I hope you feel better!

I have found a hobby that I am really good at and one I can share with others. Not only does it help me relieve stress, but it also helps me feel good about myself.

Sometimes, you just have to reward yourself and do things for you. Life is too short to worry about everyone else. Besides, if you don't take care of yourself, how are you supposed to be able to help others?

Sometimes, I also do magical workings. Something you may try is to take a knife and carve a word, such as "worry" into a candle. Then light the candle and watch "worry" disappear. It's important to visualize this word being released from you and meditate when you do this. You may even want to chant your word over and over..."I release worry, I release worry..." When all you have left is the wax from the candle, take it outside and bury it, offering it back to the mother earth. You can do this with many of the emotions you are feeling.

Hope this helps.

i'm having trouble with high school right now...

if you're busy with school work, try to take some time off every day to do something that you like to do, like take off twenty minutes and draw or just have some fun. I sometimes reach a certain point when I know I'm too pissed off or worried that I can't do anything productive, so I lay back in my chair and listen to music until I feel better.

If you like excercise, try maybe biking to a nice quiet place and do homework there.

Laughter is also a good stress reliever.

Exercise is one of the best stress relievers -- and it can be just a quick walk or jog around your neighborhood. I've been under a huge amount of stress recently and I bought a generic yoga dvd that has been a huge help, especially with my migraines. Try it, it could make a big difference for you. Good luck!

You are 18 years old...first thing you have to learn to do is say NO...peolple tend to take advantage of those who don't know how and remember you come first...stop running around for everyone else and start doing that for yourself....this does not mean that you are selfish in any way...you will be of not help to those you love if you make yourself sick...take ME TIME ...set it aside for yourself and one hour a day is certainly doable....if they call you for a favor say...no....I can't ....and I will give me you my standard answer....SORRY , BUT I AM REALLY COMPLICATED TODAY...and the same goes if you do not show up for something...it works in many scenarios...most people are too embarassed to ask you what your complication was. I hope I was of any help...and remember...when everything else fails...I GOT COMPLICATED will get you out of it.

No 1 STOP seeing a physiologist they do nothing. A good friend can help allot more. Take time to relax. With the money you save not seeing your physiologist you do not have to work so hard and now you can find time to exercise.

Punch pillows. Start running, you can develop runners high. I developed high blood presser the same way. You have to learn to say NO! every once and a while. That is a life saving word to me.

Well define what you are stressed about. Then realize that the goal can be broken down into its smallest components. Then work each one until completion. Once each component or segment is completed your stress will diminish.
