There are a lot of things that we know nothing about. Take for example the word "yearning".

what is yearning? what do we know about it? who invented yearning? is yearning genetic? do girls yearn more than boys? can babies yearn? can animals yearn? can every human being yearn equaly much, or can one person yearn more than another? is yearning infinite, or can we also sometimes say "i'm done yearning"? can flowers yearn for water or light? is yearning something that you can yearn for?

and there are so many things that we absolutely have no knowlegde of. Take, for example "in a hurry". Can animals be in a hurry? who invented it? etc, etc.

can we at least agree that we humans are such small objects in this univers that we almost know nothing ?

Not only do we not know almost nothing, but what we know may be in error. Under the new string theory, we learn that matter does not actually exist, it's just a creation of tiny, vibrating strings. That explains why the original "big bang" created such a large Universe out of practically nothing. We just recently learned there is not nearly enough gravity to keep the moon in orbit. Not by half. What keeps it in orbit? Using the string theory, there is gravity in several of the other 26 dimensions, and that is what holds it in place. If I made a list of facts that we all know, which are not true, it would fill a concert hall. The biggest myth of all is religious beliefs, which were all created by man for monetary gain. It worked and it was an easy sell. Nobody wants to simply die. There is nothing wrong with ignorance, unless we seek it. That makes us stupid, as well as ignorant.

No we can't agree that we humans almost know nothing. We know 100% of what we know. That's not nothing or anywhere near it. That's total.
Yearning is a feeling. It is not a knowable energy. And a person cut off from feeling could yearn for yearning.
My dog races to his food as if his life depends on it. This excitable energy could be described as rushing. But I bet he wouldn't call it that.
We feel stuff in the moment and then we judge stuff.
Feeling and knowing.

The Word of God is certainly what we need to learn, and about God. The other things of this world will pass away like flowers and grass(1), but the Word of God is true, and so is God. No matter how much you may think differently. We can be certain that the Word of God is true and that there is a God, for the prophecy in the Bible have/will be fulfilled. And those things we can be certain of, but worldly things will pass but God, people, and the Bible are much more important. And the choice you make about God will matter for eternity, yearnings will not.

(1) Isaiah 40: part of 6 and7-8:
“ All flesh is grass,
And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field.
7 The grass withers, the flower fades,
Because the breath of the LORD blows upon it;
Surely the people are grass.
8 The grass withers, the flower fades,
But the word of our God stands forever.”

I don't hate myself. I don't sit around and think of lists of reasons why I'm not good enough. I don't sit around making pie charts that show how much wronger I am in one respect that in the other. I don't think that it will be necessary to bring myself down a peg any time soon. I just wanna play ball.

I realize I'm not perfect and I realize that there are a loooooooot of things about the Universe that I don't know, but for Christ's sake, man what has beating yourself over the head and giving up ever fixed?

The more educated you are, the more you realize that there is to learn.

But why dwell on how much knowledge there is to learn that we don't know? Understand that there is so much yet to discover, and get excited about the next new discovery that either humanity will make collectively or you will make individually.

Learning should never be thought of something that only takes place in schools and research labs. It is a lifelong process.

Hmn, I'd agree, but, Yahoo! News stated that Stephen Hawking said we are close to finding out the origin of the universe. Also, there was another thing on Yahoo! News, showing they found the missing link between birds and dinosaurs.

One thing we know for sure: Creationism was just proven wrong.

Hey megami,
they say they MAY have found the missing link between birds and dinos. What does that have to do with man?
Evolution hasn't improved its theory.

An actress said this in one of her movies -
"The Word say, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. If we don't fear the Lord, what should you expect?"

Sure, weirdo. Although we know ALOT more than we did 10,000 years ago, even 1,000 yrs. ago. Our knowledge keeps expanding, too. So, we do know some things. We still have lots to learn. It's a never ending process.

Bridgey says it all.
