My husband was in the military, and has not used much of his GI BILL money. I intend to go back to school to get my doctorate degree and was trying to find out if I could use it.

No. We tried the same thing. But as a military dependent you do qualify for grants and scholarships. Good luck.

It depends on what branch of service he was in. The Air Force and Army have adopted policies that allow airmen and soldiers to make formal requests to "transfer" their GI Bill eligibility to dependants. HOWEVER, it is EXTREMELY difficult to process such a request and get it approved. Approval authority lies with the Secretary of the particular branch. So, although not impossible, it might as well be. Most VA reps will tell you that the transfer is not possible, or that it doesn't exist. 100% disabled vets ARE eligible to transfer their GI Bill to dependants without much trouble.

Only the person who served in the military can use the GI bill. What did you do to earn that privledge where as a taxpayer should pay for an education for you. He earned it. You didn't.

No they was talk of changing it but as far as I know you can't. As for all the rude comments. Spouses put up with a lot while their spouse is in the military.

Ummm No you can't although that would be cool for my wife if she could use it but at the same time she wasn't on the ship working 18 hour days for months straight.
