It depends on the brand of crib you have, and the style. I work in a baby store that sells cribs, and some companies needs a conversion kit for one collection, and not for the other. Do you have the directions from the crib? It should say if you need a separate conversion kit. If you want, you can email me with the brand and collection of crib you have, and if it is one i am familiar with then i could give you more information!!!! Most of the time converting to a toddler bed is NOT hard if you follow the directions.

You have all the parts you need and if you can lower the mattress, you don't need your husband. The bottom of my daughter's crib had the instructions on it to convert from crib to bed. All you need to do is take off one long side and lower the mattress to the lowest setting and put back on the side board. Usually only the one long side that you slide up and down comes off for the conversion. Piece of cake, good luck.

We have a 5 'n' 1 crib. When we converted the crib to a toddler bed all we had to do was to take the rail that goes up and down off. Ours just lifted straight up. You might want to get a bed rail to go under the mattress so that he/she won't roll out of bed. You can do it when your husband is at work and show him when he gets home. He'll be proud of you. Good luck and it is easier that it seems.

If you are trying to convert the crib you will need the conversion kit. However, it shouldn't be that hard to put together. My husband looked over the instructions once or twice and had no trouble after that. Just make sure you keep track of those stupid screws, they hurt to step on!

mine didn't sleep crawl but they were both pretty restess with the tossing and turning. they are 7 and 5 now and still move around a bit but no one has fallen out of bed in a while. i did toddler beds when they were 1 1/2 and they fell out a lot at 1st but i would just pick them up and put them back to bed no harm done since toddler beds are not that tall and it seemed safer to let them fall a few inches rather then tumble 2 feet over the railing and out of thier cribs.

It's not difficult for people who are gifted in mechanical stuff, I couldn't change a lightbulb on my own (haha)
I say, have him convert it! Afterall, aren't you the one taking care of what's inside the crib! Let him take care of the crib itself!!! :)
All the parts should be in the pkg attached to the underside of the crib.
