By going in to the conversation with the mindset that no one really knows the truth for sure. Even the wording "Truths" leaves no room for other people's views. Instead of trying to convice people of what we believe we need to realize that whatever makes someone feel happy and at peace is the correct choice for them.

Definitely! I am associated with Jehovah's Witnesses, and I certainly don't expect everyone I come across to believe as I do, but it is my love for Jehovah and my duty as his Witness to tell folks what I believe. I try very hard not to step on any toes when I tell others about Jehovah. I welcome any other religions into my home that do as Jesus commanded and go door to door, such as Mormons. There have been two young Mormons on their Mission who have come around my neighborhood, and we spent several hours one afternoon exchanging ideas about God. No one got upset or angry or belligerent, we just talked. My banker is a graduate from Bob Jones University, a very strict Bible Belt college here in South Carolina. My husband and I got into a discussion about religion one day at his office and ended up staying there nearly 3 hours! We had the BEST time, laughing and sharing scriptures and ideas. It was wonderful...but only because none of us took any offence at what the others had to say, and listened as well as shared. In a perfect world, we could all do this and even different, get along!!

We are in a section on religion. It is almost impossible as so many of the faiths contradict each other. All we can do is try and be polite and not get so offended that we strike out at eac other. Of course there are some here just for that reason so that just throws the whole thing out the window.

Acceptance of individual beliefs including is a good first step. As far as being articulate, it would depend on the author. There will always be those who feel the need to express their emotions and feelings. Acceptance of this behavior is a choice.

Don't condemn each other for believing something that someone else doesn't believe. Know and respect that other people may have different beliefs than you. That is really all anyone needs to do that; if people would do that than there wouldnt be so much angriness on here.

People have to learn to listen to others as much as they want to be listened to. Everyone wants to shout out what they believe and what is wrong with what others believe but how many want to sit quietly and just learn. You have to create a safe place in your life where people can feel free to talk about what they believe and know that they will not be judged or criticized. Allow people to believe and live as they choose.

well, Jesus is truth. He said, " I am the way the truth and the life" He taught with authority unlike anyone else in history. That is why so many believe in him. Truth is not a principal, but a being--Jesus.

I think if it is done with civility, you have done your duty. Some people, especially on the Internet, are just going to be hostile regardless of what you do, say, or believe, on either side of a debate. But as Augustine once said, "We are never to judge a philosophy on the basis of its abuse." Let's just everybody play fair and call it good. ;)

I seriously doubt that can be accomplished. Too many with thin skin on Yahoo Answers. Just say the wrong word and,....."Reported"! But it's a nice thought, anyway.
