How do you like Allah's COMPARISON? Can your child make a better COMPARISON OF THE EARTH?
If a six year old asked you what the earth would best be COMPARED to, would you say "a carpet spread out"?
Should we hold Allah's comparison to a God standard or a dows syndrome child standard (sorry, im being unfair to dows people...i really am)?
Maybe Im being to picky here....

Why you continue to regurgitate the same questions again and again, don't you have any new useful questions? The earth to the naked eye is spread like a carpet (translation is not accurate) and this what every body see when look in front on the horizon. But if you are looking from a satellite the view will be different and you will see a rotating ball, and this very nice fact is mentioned very neatly in the holy Quran in 39:5. Now please don't ask this stupid question any more because then you will prove to be very stupid.

it's not quite means carpet. the word in the quran says "Firasha". which is close to the carpet but NOT as flat as the carpet. Firasha can have waves up and down while the carpet not. and God said it and He said the truth. don't you walk on grass? don't you walk on Sand. didn't u know that the buttom of the earth is volcano and minerals and hard rocks. so the surface is like something to walk on it.

Don't you find it amazing that even being round like a ball we can stand alike in the north or south poles, without falling in the atmosphere, this is what Allah is giving you example to understand, if you are trying to say that Allah has no knowledge of the earth being round then know that He mentionned that even the sun orbits before the scientist discovered it.

The Christians and Muslims believed the Earth was flat. So, a round rug would work. Also, it was not one thread that makes the rug. Just like it is not one person that makes up the Earth or anything else. It is many, all intertwined. Perhaps the threads of the rug represent people's intertwining paths? Also, one person alone may feel insignificant, but, they play a big role in the rest of the world.
