this is something that was implemented to deter theft. so assuming you are the rightful owner then call the manufacturer and provide them with the required proof that the device is not stolen and you will have no problems

When you call Kenwood (1-800-Kenwood) they will refer you to the closest authorized service center.
At the service center you are supposed to show that it is your unit. Also since this isn't warranty you can expect to pay for the service tech's time.

ive heard alot of people dont like sony, so id lean towards the kenwood, alot of sony products overheat as far as car audio goes. without looking at brand and going soley by specs of the decks i would say theyre almost the same, pick whichever you feel looks better or has the specific features you want
