My sister and I used to make scavenger hunts around our backyard, and hide candy prizes at the end. Ok, it sounds kind of lame now. But I remember laughing my butt off as she would be running in circles trying to figure out the clues. It would keep us busy for hours. Similarly that can play outdoor games like tag or hide-and-seek. I know the older kids might not be as into it as the younger one, but they're bored, right? Another similar idea, is my sister and I used to make a backyard olympics course, and then see who could get the fastest time running the whole course. It would involve things like jumping over rows of turned-over garbage cans, scooting across the driveway on a gardening cart, making a basketball hoop, doing five cartwheels in a row, limboing under a hung jump rope, etc. it would get really elaborate, and would take up the whole front yard and backyard. When it was really hot we'd get silly with water stunts too. Just some ideas.

We have a Christmas tradition, making these easy to put together "Snowballs" with the little ones and they taste great.

Spread peanut butter between two Ritz crackers and sandwich. Place on wax paper
Heat white Almond Brick (candy coating) in microwave and then spread over cookies. Make sure the coating goes down the side. Let cool. and then remove from wax paper.

ROCKY ROAD COOKIE BARS

Heat oven to 350 and press chocolate chip cookie dough into a ungreased 13x9 pan. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until light golden brown. Top with 1/2 cup salted peanuts. 1cup miniature marshmallows and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Bake an additional 3 to 5 minutes or until marshmallows are puffed and lightly browned: cool and drizzle with 1/3 cup caramel topping

Cherry Slush
2 cups cold club soda
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. plus 1/8 tsp. cherry (or other flavor) unsweetened kool-aid mix
2 1/2 cups crushed ice
1/2 tsp. cherry extract (optional)

In blender mix 1 cup of the club soda, the sugar, kool-aid mix, andcherry extract, blend 2 minutes until sugar is dissolved. Add ice and blend until mix is a slushy consistency with no remaining chunks of ice. Add remaining cup of club soda and blend until mixed. If necessary, place blender in freezer for 1/2 hour to help thicken it up. After the 1/2 hr blend again briefly to mix.

Microwave...does that count?

Put a large handful of tortilla chips on a microwave-safe plate. Sprinkle a small handful of nacho cheese on the chips and place in microwave on high for 1min. Let it sit for a min. or 2 and then... EAT! makes great for a snack to share with a friend. Good Luck!!!!!
