If you are hungry on a diet it will not work.

When I turned 40, I suddenly put on a lot of weight : I had always been very into sports, and something happened that I couldn't any more. I tried lots of diets, including one the Dr gave me, nothing worked.

On the advice of a firend, I went to a nutritionist. She gave me a diet where I ate 5 times a day, and was never hungry, I could drink a little alcohol, I ate pasta, rice, and fish, meat or chicken once or twice a day and I had a free (anything I liked) meal on saturday night.

I didn't cheat, and I lost over 2 lbs a week comsistently throguht the whole diet which have never come back. Because I was never hungry and the diet was based on things I liked, I stayed on it for 5 months. Work it out for yourself, thats a lot of weight, but I was eating like a boxer and living like an accountant.

You need to eat the right things in the right mix, not starve, If you starve, you will bounce right back when you come off the diet. Been there. Done it. It worked.

Ironically, and to the demise of soooooo many who want to loose weight, the body will in fact loose weight when you starve yourself. However, the body , being as amazing as it is, when not fed, goes into "famine mode". What happens is you don't eat anything for days and days on end, your body takes this as a warning that it is not going to get food for some time, so although you loose weight , your body takes every bit of food it gets and turns it to fat because "who knows how long this famine is going to last".By not eating you really damage your body rather than make it healthier. So EAT, but do not eat any crap,ie.. sugar, junk food, chips and other empty calorie foods. The other step, WALK, get off your butt every day and walk!!!
If you do not feel you can get moving more often, DAILY, then forget about this weight loss thing FOREVER. There are no magic pills, no diets that involve starving yourself, or other quick fixes that are going to help you loose weight. Educate yourself and get on with the work. Good luck!

Starving your self will not help you to lose weight and keep it off for good. It will take away muscle but not weight, The best way p start losing weight is to eat a balanced meal. Eat 6 small meals a day and drink an 8oz. glass of water just before you eat. The water will make you fill full so you are satisfied with the small meal.

Diets that consist of NOT EATING, are NOT DIETS.

they will not help you at all, and in the long run, probably kill you at a younger age.

you will lose weight, but you will look like crap.

you need to find a REAL diet.

a good diet does not mean NO food, it means moderation, and VARIETY!

so, have a snack, like a yogurt or fruit, or some of those low calorie pack snacks that are advertised by a fruity-looking guy in a fairy outfit.

dont starve yourself, and MOVE!! exercise is more important than NOT EATING in a diet.

if you are too lazy to do that, then you should give up.

dieting is about eating right, not going without eating. Your body still needs basic nutrients - when you're hungry between meals, nibble on carrots, or even fruit. A lot of the time I don't even eat much at meals because I've been nibblin on vegetables or drinking milk (skim is excellent for diets) all day. I'm 19, finished my first year of college and still weigh 110 pounds... most people gain 15-30 pounds their first year of college but if you eat right, you'll start losing weight. Eat lots of fruit, vegetables and when you have to eat grains, eat whole grain products. You'll see a difference in not just weight loss but also overall energy improvement.

Trust me diets NEVER work. Just cut down and eat health and the weight will come off.

Also if you starve yourself you body will start using some fat that it has stored and next time you do have something to eat your body will grab it back and a little extra, so you end up putting on more weight.

Eat something, what about Cereal and skimmed milk that low in fat and it will fill you up.

Yes! If you get too hungry your body goes into starvation mode and you will end up gaining more weight. What you really should do is make sure the things you decide to eat are healthy and won't break your diet.

One way to do it is by using online sites that let you look up calories for different foods. My favorite is http://www.thedailyplate.com/ - you can track your food and diet progress there for free. There are some others out there but they are pay sites.

If you are on a diet the key is not to starve yourself. Eat plenty of green foods, it has a lot of fiber in it and it helps you digest your food easily. Stay away from the milk, bread, cokes and stuff like that. Dairy products dont work that well with a diet. Also if you notice, a lot of vegitarians are not very big, lay off the meat.

If you starve yourself then your body will start to store your body fat so you may need to eat little and often instead of 3 meals a day.
Good snacks include fruit, celery is fantastic you burn more calories eating it than you get from it, salads are good try to eat a salad with every meal.
Always eat breakfast like cereal with added fruit.
Aim for 3 meals a day with a mid morning and afternoon snack

You should never starve yourself on a diet....You will make yourself sick. You just have to eat smaller portins and alot of veggies in the raw.....with excersize and a better diet you should lose weight at an even pace and not risk your heath in the process. Keep drinking water and make sure you eat right.
