The only reference of the Bible being used as a weapon is the Sword of Truth. Some people believe that if you use the Bible to back up your beliefs then you are attacking them. But you are using a real reference. It's like saying that using the encyclopedia to back you up makes the encyclopedia a weapon.
Now don't get me wrong, some people go out looking for fights and start "Bible bashing" but this is not a loving thing and not what God wants us to do.
But don't be afraid to back up what you say with Bible verses. That what the Bible was written for! ;) God Bless.

well In our little Baptist church the Pastor said the Bible is like a sword with two sides that cutting on the way in and cuttin on the way out. We call it the sword of the Lord. So I say it is a weapon. We sure have a great time in services and we gettin on to memorizing the Bible I got my old sword ready..
You know I like to think of the Bible as that little stick I got behind the stove. When I whip that little stick out, my boys paid attention or they got a few good ones.. The Bible is like that Pay attention or you gonna get a few good licks..

Lovely, if you feel in your heart that you should NOT use the bible as a weapon, then don't. :-) If you feel otherwise, then do so.

Only you can make that determination in your christian path. :-) Decide for yourself how you should be perusing your bible and proceed with it. :-)

Personally, I have been hurt by some christians who used the bible as a weapon. I am less likely to listen to them if they use the bible as a sword who tasted "blood".

If the bible was a literal weapon it whould be an Uzi or an ak-47. thats why i dont like bibles.

actually the bible is stolen stories from other tales, it was stolen from Pagans and the christians had the balls to say that its thiers. thieves and liars thieves and liars.

duka that was very rude. but then agian christians have no respect for any religion including others that are within thiers.

I can only guess what they had on their minds, but usually when someone is saying that from a Christian perspective what they mean is to make sure that your post is seasoned with the love that God has for all people.

If you just post passages telling people that they are going to hell but neglect to mention that they are only going to hell IF they fail to avail themselves of the gracious gift God in his love has made by sending his Son to pay our sin debt then you could be said to be using the Bible as a weapon instead of a healing balm for lost sinners.

The bible is the truth and people are scared of the truth. They don't want to know what they are doing wrong. The bible shows what is support to me but they don't want to hear it so its a weapon.

your not supposed to hit people with it, but your supposed to use it as a weapon against the devil by memorizing Gods word so that whenever you are having a problem, or being tempted you will think of a bible verse to help you out. you can also use it as a weapon in evangalizing. Thats telling other people about Jesus.

The Bible is a weapon of mass destruction. It should be illegal. It ends more lives than than war and famine combined. People kill because of the Bible.

You really need to think about what you are trying to accomplish. The Bible can be used to adjust someones thinking.. What are some goals of Christian counsel? These are to help someone to make progress and continue in the right way, to solve problems, to overcome difficulties, and perhaps to correct a wrong course. The apostle Paul referred to some forms of counseling when he urged Timothy to “reprove, reprimand, exhort, with all long-suffering and art of teaching.” (2 Timothy 4:1, 2) It truly is an art to counsel someone in such a way that he can understand without feeling hurt.

it is much easier to accept even strong counsel if we know that the one counseling us loves us, is not speaking because of personal irritation, and has no selfish motives.

counseling is an act of love that all of us owe to fellow Christians from time to time. Counsel should not be given on any pretext. But when needed, it should be given courageously. It should have a Scriptural basis and be offered in a spirit of mildness. Moreover, it is much easier to accept counsel from someone who loves us.
