does anyone have jl audios w7s?

i am trying to get some 12s and i was wondering how bad ace they are.

on ebay there about 500 a speaker and in the store they are about 800 or more. what about the w6s?

there overated. thats the truth. i am not going to blow sunshine up your butt, on a scale of 1-10 there about a 7. jl tried to make a all around "great" sub. and they didnt do to bad. but the w7 is overhyped. if you want just pure spl, which is just loud, then go with the pioneer spl5000. there is no louder sub in the world. if you want more sound quality then go with 2 boston g5's for the same price as a w7. you get cleaner clearer subs, that are just as loud as a w7, in the right box. you might also want to check out image dynamics, i think its called the id12, but you might want to check into it. those are also great subs. i am not trying to talk down to jl, but i think there both over priced and overated. i just dont want you to blow close to a grand on 1 speaker, and be disapointed.

Both are exceptional speakers, and will absolutely blow your mind. The trouble with the W6's is that you will need to buy 3 of them in most cases to achieve a 2 ohm mono load for your amplifier. You can get away with using 2 W6's ONLY if your amplifier is 1 ohm mono stable.

Most important thing with either subwoofer is to make certain you have an amplifier that will provide enough power to the subwoofers. Providing too little power to speakers can actually damage them.

ok if ur wanting to do car shows and dB metering i would get a 13 1/2" w7 it runs roughly $1000.00 and i would power it by a 1000x1 channel amp(mono) i had it and i was knockin 15's and 12's out there is no better sub than a 13 1/2" jl w7.

I have 2 10's. They are awesome. Expensive, but good. I would suggest getting some IDMax's or Adire Audios' Brahma.
