Lemon does not make it lighter for a while it is permanent. The lemon juice removes the outter shell or cuticle layer of your hair making it easier for the sun to bleach the pigment out. This will dry your hair out and make it harder to comb. When ever you try to make your hair lighter it is permanent. Not temporary. You can make it darker temporarily but not lighter.
