Not most work on farms. And many people do hot sweaty jobs.
And there is the cost. More and more it is costing me. I want to see where it is all going. I want more services for those who are citizens and have put their time in here first. I want enough land left for the wildlife and Horses to still graze. I want more forest. I want us to be more self Dependant.
And letting a ton of people in is not helping. We have enough people here. Many here populate enough as it is.
We all have sad stories-and some have to live with it.
And we can't have everything we want

Sounds like you've never had a 'real job'...the problem with illegal aliens is right there, and in the entire phrase 'illegal aliens'. People aren't martians, 'aliens' implies extra-terrestrial to most people, these are citizens of other countries that decided to skip the whole immigration process because it was a Big Hassle.
A fair chunk of those that couldn't be bothered by the likes of our legal system are, unfortunately, mexican. That's right, citizens of Mexico who'd been given largely a free pass by this administration to do whatever. Bush likes 'growth', right? Well, Mexico's certainly 'growing' it's way right into america. Kind of like a tapeworm. I don't believe any rhetoric about 'jobs americans won't do', either, because I've seen plenty of lily-white people out there doing really crappy jobs. Work is work. It's called 'work' because all the other 4-letter words were already taken. I for one, and I am pretty sure many other americans are about tired of the 'struggling migrant' sob stories.
The United States is facing ballooning debt. Massive debt. Practically incalculable debt. Inviting Mexico to move in, which appears to be Bush's major policy goal, isn't going to fix that. If anything, you add 2 sums together, one small one large, and take the average, the result is less than the larger number.
Americans that are on the edge NOW don't see many merits in
making a lot of radical changes where Mexico is concerned, nor do they buy the 'rising tide lifts all boats' garbage. Bush is a joke, his administration's a joke, and our domestic policy on immigration enforcement is also a joke. But, if you're a citizen of the US, and you're a taxpayer, and you have any attachment to your current quality of life, maybe you want to pick up a newspaper once in a blue moon, and evaluate for yourself what you think of our border policy....

well I for one am not against immigration, I just want the laws to be upheld. The laws are there for good reasons. maybe they current laws are to tough, but that doesn't give anyone an excuse for braking them.
I also have a few friends that are fist generation immigrants that came to the US the legal way, they feel like this is a spit in the face to them. they had to go threw alot to get here then find if they would have went to Mexico and walked north they could have come at any time and been here along time ago. Ask some one that came here the legal way how they feel about the illegals, you might be surprised.
and yes I do know 99% of them are good people looking for a better life, hell I might do the same thing if i was in their place. enough is enough already, look at some of the projections on how much of a drain the illegals are going to be on the states soon, its alot.

It has to do with a lot of things right now. I don't want to believe this, but at the root of the problem is racism. For years and years, the word "Mexican" has been a bad word. But Mexicans are not the only illegal immigrants as you already know.
There are both benefits and advantages to illegal immigrants. One, they are taking the jobs that nobody wants. They are cheap labor and they do their jobs well. I read this article about immigration months ago where a Texas grandmother claimed that all these immigrants were taking away her granddaughter's jobs. Um, i doubt that her granddaughter wanted to work in the fields or construction industry, clean dishes at a restaurant or work as a fulltime nanny.
On the other side, the businesses that do play by the rules are often hurt because they can't keep up with the their competitors that do things under the table.
But, you know, history repeats itself. back in the 20's and 30's, the U.S. government deported illegal Mexican immigrants for many of the same reasons they are claiming today.
anyway, don't know if that answered any of your question.

The key word is in the phrase illegal immigrants. How did they come to this country? Illegally. There's no problem with legal immigrants. Illegal immigrants don't want to follow the law. They apply for and receive benefits for which American citizens pay. They use fake I. D.s to receive benefits American citizens would not qualify for. Illegal aliens pay taxes? What? Sales tax...big deal. Everyone who purchases items pays sales tax. Do they pay social security? Where does an illegal immigrant get a social security card with a number on it? I'll lay money he doesn't get it from the Social Security Administration. He may be paying taxes on his pay...but it's not going for his retirement if he doesn't have a legitimate card.
If you care enough about coming to America to better your life, then do it right.
If I moved to France. What would happen to me if I brought thousands of my friends to protest the fact that the French government would not give me medical care because I could not find a job. Would I expect the French people to learn English so I could continue to speak my native language?
They would think I was an idiot. They'd be right.
Problem is our government won't do anything about it. They do not want to solve the problem. They only want it to go away. They are a spineless bunch of blood sucking leeches who tell the people what the want to hear and blame the problems on the other party. If those lazy fat cats were on social security, that problem would be fixed before you could say, "How are you voting on the Congressional pay raise?"

Well, first of all, not all of them pay taxes. And, I'm sure that when you grandparents came to America, they probably registered themselves, instead of climbing over a wall, or crossing a river, or stowing away in a truck or boat. While, yes, I can understand why they would want to come over here, but, if they want to be here then they can register. As a matter of fact, I read that most of the illegal immigrants refuse to learn English, which means that there will be a lack of communication between themselves and other people. And, if they really wanted to be here, then would you care to explain why they carry their flag, and say that they are from another country. If they wanted to be here, then they would carry the American flag, and they would say they are Americans, and they would learn English. I'm sure that if we went to another country, we would try to at least understand the language of the other country. Now, if they came here legally, then that would be a different story altogether, and that would be ok.

Texan, you don't understand how there can be up to 20 million illegals in this country and that they would be taking jobs? Perhaps you are assuming the politicians lie about "jobs Americans won't do." That is what it is, a lie.
As far as working in hot climates, my husband does that every day. The temperatures here rise up to 101 degrees on hot summer days. He sure isn't a Mex.
And most Mexicans paying taxes, that is a lie. I know that for a fact. There are many, many illegal Mexicans here who don't pay taxes. How do I know? I used to work in a construction office and saw payroll. I speak fluent Spanish as well and have personally been told my Mexican illegals that they don't pay taxes.

The difference is that your grandparents went through the process of becoming citizens. They learned english, learned about politics and learned our government. My grandparents came from Ireland and went through the proper channels to become citizens. They were sponsored and came and took the test in ENGLISH, passed and became citizens.
As for being Illegally in the country, most work under the table, live on welfare and drain the medical system. This is not a unfound fact but one I have seen first hand. Women go on welfare say that they don't know where the fathers are and infact they are living there. It is a sad situation.
If people who want to achieve a better life would do what it takes to be a "citizen" of America then they would need to have allegance to America, they would understand that we were founded under God's protection. In order to be a citizen then they need to share our beliefs and our morals and our customs. It is important that we stay United as a Country.

Oh and some people here are worried about THEIR STANDARD OF LIVING!!
Would you rather import and add to the trade deficit, and outsource jobs? We could close all the farms down!
Start with those and your standard of living will increase.
The Mexicans are a lot like the Americans of Japanese ancestry! During WWII we put them in Concentration camps, stole their houses and their land, much of it grape farms in California.
We did almost the same to Mexicans. We stole California, Texas and New Mexico and another state that was rightfully theirs and now we let them work the land that we stole for peanuts in wages. Most go back o Mexico after a harvest, and even your leader, George, wants to give them work passes so Corporations can get cheap labor!
We stole, murdered, plundered this land from sea to shining sea and it was taken over by the most heartless, racist, bigots the world has ever seen! That is except for a couple of periods in the last 2 centuries!

Actually, illegal immigrants do not pay taxes. You see in order for this to be, the people they work for would have to report these illegal employees as working for them and have federal and state taxes withheld from their checks. Why do you think people pay them in cash? So there is no record. If they were paid by check, there would be a record of the illegal immigrant and the illegal activity of the employer. Also, since the immigrant is illegal, the employer can get by with paying them less than minimum wage because what can the illegal immigrant say? Don't get me wrong, I have NO problem with legal immigrants coming to our country. I have a real problem funding illegal immigrants who don't pay taxes! If I don't get the option of not paying taxes as a U.S. citizen, I certainly don't think someone who is not a U.S. citizen should get the option either.

I think the key word here is "illegal". They are committing a crime by being here instead of going thru the right channels and paperwork. I agree with you that they are doing the jobs that most Americans wont do. The US just needs to go for it and crack down on all of the people that don't have the papers, and have crossed the borders illegally (being it Mexico, Canada, or where ever) and deport them. Giving them amnesty just sends out the message that the US is soft and will let people get away with almost anything making this country look soft on crime.
