I do believe that it is illegal everywhere in the US, but it does seem as though the police are cracking down more on the "harder" stuff. But please don't get it in your head that you can't be busted for pot....a friend of mine went to jail for a week for a roach in her car ash tray.

Not sure why people call it pot. I guess people come up with new names for it all the time so other people (like the cops) won't know what they are talking about.

Sadly, it is illegal in the USA... By the way, Holland is allowed to have marijuana in coffeehouse... I plan go there soon where I can have the pleasure to smoke the marijuana in front of the cops there... Anyway, back to USA... There are few states that allowed marijuana as medical reason but I don't think it is good system because the government keep get involved in it. I have been arrested before for marijuana but all I got is probation. I wish they will wake up and see that they can make profits from marijuana but I don't think it will happen in our lifetime... Maybe a generation or 2 later, it will... Sigh!

Dunno why it is called pot? Hmm...

"Until 1937, consumption and sale of cannabis was legal in most U.S. states. In some areas it could be openly purchased in bulk from grocers or in cigarette form at newsstand, though an increasing number of states had begun to outlaw it.
In recent decades, a movement to decriminalize cannabis has arisen in several countries. This movement seeks to make simple possession of cannabis punishable by only a fine, rather than prison. In the past several years, the movement has started to have some successes. These include Denver, Colorado legalizing possession of up to an ounce of cannabis, a broad coalition of political parties in Amsterdam, Netherlands unveiling a pilot program to allow farmers to legally grow it, and Massachusetts voting in favor of a bill to decriminalize the possession of up to an ounce of marijuana. In 2001 in the United Kingdom, it was announced that cannabis would become a Class C drug, rather than a Class B, effectively eliminating the threat of arrest for possession; this change took effect in 2004. The Government of Mexico voted to legalize the possession of cannabis under 5 grams on April 28, 2006. "

If you somke marijuana in the peace and quite of you own home, you will most likely not be caught. Police tend to go after Dealers, and if they catch buyers in the process thats good with them. If they execute an unrelated warrent in your house, and they find it, they will arrest you. It mostly depends on your local police department however. Some places might make a point of prosecuting drugs/marijuana, and some might be ambivalent.

Alaska legalized marijuana for a short time in the 80's but repealed the legalization later.

If weed should be illegal, then so should alcohol. Marijuna doesn't cause drunk driving deaths. Holland has de-criminalized bud and other European nations are considering it. Vancouver British Columbia tolerates smoking cafes, and they have seed farms there too. Don't know why it's called pot.

Illegal, weather or not it's legal in a state. It's still a federally controlled substance. Regardless of weather the police enforce it or not.

I totally agree with shadobeast. If they made it legal and then taxed it our deficit would be gone in no time. Ans as for mgllpz, I'm not sure what state she lives in but she obviously knows NOTHING about TX law.

I believe it is illegal in all 50 States.

But it should be made Legal.

Have the Law treat it like Alcohol (DUI,Etc...)
Mass produce it like Tobacco so the price is low
Then........
Tax the living sh** out of it so the Gov can try to pay off the Deficit!!!!!!!!!
