Yes, mainstream Satanists (LaVey Satanism) are atheists as well. Satanists don't actually believe the devil exists.
Written by a Satanist:
"Satan is not a real, living entity, conscious or a physical thing that can be interacted with. It is a symbol, something ethereal, something that basically doesn't exist except as an emotional attachment and personal dream. Just like Buddhists do not worship Buddha, Satanists hold up Satan as an ultimate principal rather than an object of literal worship. Satan inspires and provokes people, like all (honest) religions the ultimate point is self-help. God believers have a different opinion on what Satan is, but their opinion is a result of their religion. Satanism's Satan is much more eclectic and multicultural than to be defined by Christianity or Islam."
Of course, many religions have different denominations with their own sets of beliefs, there may be some Satanists that actually do believe Satan exists. They though, like I implied above, are not mainstream Satanists.

Many satanists do not believe in the literal Satan revealed in the bible. They merely use satan as a figurehead. The concept of satan is repulsive to traditional Christian morality and that is why his image was chosen. Satanists have differing beliefs, some are atheistic, some agnostic, and some may even believe in a satanic deity. Others may cling to various pagan belief systems. But in general satanists are united in rebelling against Christianty. Many of their ceremonies/rites are mockeries of Christian traditions.

Atheists don't believe in ANYTHING. They can't be Satanists. Put down the Bible and pick up a book on religious comparison. Or pick up an Atheist book.

no they can not be satanist. I used to refer to myself as a atheist, merely because I could not relate to any religion. But the only faith i have is me, myself and I. I believe in myself. Period.
O wow, you folks are really sarcastic. Why keep bringing up religious questions? I always find myself dragged back to this very subject. Don't you know it can drive some people crazy??

They share the same sin as Satan, ultimate pride, but you're right, it doesn't jive to say they worship Satan when they don't believe in God.

Since there is NO 'devil' then the answer is no.
Atheists understand that all ghods(tm) are merely fables used to explain the universe to the simple-minded.
People with actual intelligence understand that such a being or beings cannot exist.
Oh and for the above poster, if being "fo jeebus" means that I have to lower my IQ to the point that your inane crap makes sense, then thanks but NO thanks!
