I asked for Bible verses on being self centered, arrogant, & vain. The reason was because some people have hurt me because they were these things. Now, I'm writing a letter to them because I don't think they realize just how bad they hurt me and also letting them know I forgive them. Is it considered using the Bible as a weapon if I put a Bible verse at the end?

By the way, I'm not trying to get back at them in any way, just letting them know that they hurt me and maybe they should consider how they treat others.

Like I said, I'm not looking to get back at them, I just need to send the letter because they used to be such a wonderful part of my life until they hurt me--and now I feel they might go around and hurt other people too.

I have turned the other cheek---but its hard to stay that way when they keep coming back and "torturing" me more and more...I dunno what to do, I just want them to stop and also not do this to other people.

well I know if you put that at the end of a letter to me I would probably think your a little bit of a nut, no offense its just me.

instead of a letter why not talk to this person? maybe they didn't really mean to hurt you, I know when I joke around with my friends it can get out of hand some times.

as for using the bible as a weapon, well as long as you don't bonk them on the head with it i guess your safe.

I don't think it would be considered a weapon. But I also think if you truly want to use the Bible you should read a few verses about forgiveness for yourself. It may seem a little arrogant that you are quoting the Bible to put them in their place. You are saying you don't do these things and you are better than them. Everyone is sinful. Jesus is the only one free of sin.

I believe there is a better way to do this. You say they are Christians and they hurt you. You should confront them in person. If they are true Christians they would hear what you have to say. If you are fearful which God does not give us a spirit of fear,at least call them. Using bible verses to me is an attack against them because you said they are Christians. You should allow God to convict them of their wrong towards you. Don't take it in your own hands or you will reap what you sow! Hopefully you are a christian and if you are you shouldn't use the word of God at all. What would Jesus do?

We're supposed to use the Bible as a weapon.
"and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;" The whole quote is from verses 10-20

If you are using them to illustrate a point that is one thing but if you are using it as religious extortion (i.e. "if you don't then ...") then this would be inappropriate.

I am not in any way religious so it would have little effect on me either way but if the person is a believer then maybe it will ease the words.

Best advice I can give is to write it then put it away for 24 hours and re-read it before sending it ... that helps to stop your emotion getting in the way of what you meant to say.

Peace out

It's cool, but don't talk about religion throughout the letter. Just leave the verses at the bottom and talk mainly about how they hurt you. If you dot your letters throughout with Jesus, religious verses, and whatnot, then they might view it as an biblical attack.

EDIT: I saw your note about they being christians. My advice stands. Verses will be helpful if left on the bottom. :-) KISS: Keep It Simple, Sweets. ;-) *hugs*

I would pray about it. But the bible says you shouldn't have any ill feelings towards another, and if they have offended you, you are to go to them about it. Yes, the bible is used as a weapon,it's meant to be,it's the word of God backing you up, hope all works out well.

No, that BS can't hurt anyone. Try to use it that way, and you may be shown its contradictions. You may not like finding your cult beliefs are lies to control people. The only way it could be a weapon is if a person throws it. So that is OK, we forgive you.

If you feel that the Bible best puts how you feel in words, I don't say it's being used as a weapon, but as a defense. Go for it! Use those powerful words!

I would suggest that any retaliation on your part is not what the Lord would have you do. The only time that I know of where its ok to retaliate is when one of the laws of God are broken. Then only is it sanctioned to be done through the ordained of the Lord.

Hope that helps, remember turn the other cheek.
