Amber there is only one way for them to come after the father to be reimbursed if they know his identity. You are not required to put the name of the father on the birth certificate if you are not sure of his identity. However I urge you to consider the repercussions ...think of your child's future as far as support is concerned if you dont list him and later need help financially with the child you will have to go through alot of trouble getting a paternity test ect. in order to file for child support. I understand your concern but the main concern should be the child and its welfare not the father who wants to remain unknown to escape his fiscal responsibility. It takes two to make and support the child. Good luck Amber.

in most states the welfare office wont come after you for Medicaid issues..mostly just for monetary issues like actual welfare checks. In a lot of states you can still qualify for Medicaid even if both parents are present and married and have jobs with insurance, as long as the income is below the state maximum. It can be used as a secondary insurance for the baby and with no fear of repercussion

Depends on what state you are in. Some state now have a law (Florida is one) if you do not sign up for child support enforcement, you are not eligible for Medicaid.

no. that's your choice. if you don't want to put the dad on your child's birth certificate, then you don't have to. it doesn't matter. amber
