with all due respect for your family, it's still your personal decision. if they won't cook vegan for you, ask if you can prepare your meals seperately. they will give in eventually.

I assume since your asking a big part of this change depends on your mother(parents) supporting it financially.
When I still lived at home, I convinced my mother by not eating what she brought when it didn't fit with my choice. We were big pork and red meat eaters and when I decided to stop eating that, she kept buying steak, and bacon, etc, anyway, so I was usually left eating a salad if I could scrounge one up. Fruit when I couldn't.
I got really thin and she got so worried she started buying me whatever I needed, just so I would eat.
It may not have been the healthiest of ways to convince her I was serious about the change but in the end it worked.
If you're not dependent upon them, then just make your own meals, and at family gatherings bring a dish so you'll be sure theres something there you can eat.
Thats what I do.

Humans haven't evolved to eat non-meat products. It's beneficial to the life of a human to eat certain meats. While vegatables and fruits make up most of our deitary needs, meats and dairy products are very valuable. But as you said you researched all of the information and have stepped up and chose to become vegan. It's hard to tell family members such as this, but i would say slowly introduce it to the family not all at once. Usually when this kind of thing is brought a person doesn't know how their family will react either they will accept it or not. but if you slowly introduce it they will slowly be okay with it and accept who you are. But personally i dont find this as a big deal next to a person trying to tell their family their sex orientation (for example when they try to tell them they are bisexual or gay). But if you think they wont then slowly introduce it as i said before. If you family is more open to these types of things then you can choose to also be forward to them.
I also think it doesnt hurt to talk to one family member which you are really close with and talk it out with them. They can probably help you more than anyone else in this type of situation.

get them a copy of Diet For A New America by John Robbins. that's the most convincing argument. Give them a list of all the vegans you can dig up on the internet. There's lots of movie stars, and singers. Get educated, and then when they ask you the usual ignorant questions, like "where do you get your protein?", you can have solid answers. Not only can fend off their questions, but you can show them that you can be healthier as a Vegan, and also, you can prove it to them as well, by your shining example

I think a slow intergration of meals, i.e. (lasagna ala veggie) can be a great start. It was for me though I am not a vegan (sp?) Fried zuccinie (sp?) was a great repleacement for french fries!!! I love it.

Wow, I would get together all of the information you can and explain to them exactly why you feel the way you do. hopefully they will be impressed with your ability to research and make informed decisions about your life.

Don't try to make them vegan. Buy and prepare your own meals, always making sure to clean up your own mess. Once they see that you are sticking to it, and that it smells and tastes good, they may join in.

how old are you? i would just do it, tell them this is your choice and give them the reasons why. If they choose not to support you then whatever it's your choice, your body.
