even if the food is lousy most of us say fine. Wondering what others are saying.

I would take it as an opening if you needed anything from the waiter or waitress. If you want a refill on your drink, want to order something else, or want the bill, then say so. If you don't need anything, then just say that you are doing fine. If the food or service is bad, I do not think I would bother with complaining. I just wouldn't bother with going there again.

If it's not that great, let them know! They'll give you another meal or give you a discount. Most people who have bad experiences with the actual food at a restaurant take it out on waitstaff and don't tip them well. But if the service is alright, that's not fair! The only thing you can do is ask to speak with a manager or chef, let them know what you didn't care for, and they will usually find a way to make it up!

I've been a waitress for 20 yrs. I always appreciate an honest answer to this question. Without being rude explain what is wrong so the server can fix it. I believe it's your money and you should get what you asked for

I ususally just say everything is okay, unless it's that bad. Then I might ask if they mind if I switch it. But I am a waitress and if people complain and are cool about it I don't care and I'll just go fix it asap. If they're really annonying.......did anyone see the movie Waiting? Can't guarantee what the cooks might do if they're pissed about a rude guest.

Depends on what the problem is. If it's the server than address that person with what your expectations are.

If it's the food or other issues, tell the management. Don't lay on your back and accept bad service or food. You paid for it so make it right. If you approach the problem with diginity you might find that they will make everything right.

If there's a problem with the food and you don't provide them with feedback how can you expect the situation to get better?

I tell them the truth. Im honest but also polite about it. If you dont tell them the problems (if there are any) then it can happen again and cause more problems. Just make sure you tell them in nice way.

I usually have a mouth full of food when that happens, so I just mumble and nod yes.
