The prophets prepared the way for the Messiah. There are no more prophets after Jesus. We don't need a prophet, we have the Pope.
"And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it." -Matthew 16:18

Jesus said he would build his Church on Peter, not Joseph Smith. LDS go against the Bible.

Idaho Gal: The pope is the direct successor of Peter. Curently we have the 265th successor, so where is the apostacy? When did the apostacy happen?

Idaho gal: the Pope does speak for God, that is why you don't need a prohet. There was no need for Joseph Smith.

The 300 year gap shows that there was oral tradition and the Church was presided over by bishops. There 265 men that have succeded Peter, some of them were personally corrupt, but Church doctrine has always stayed pure and faithful to Christ.

Mormons believe that after Peter (as you now have a Pope not Peter also) the Church of Jesus Christ was corrupted and later men not God stood at the head. We believe the God reorganized his church Throuph Joseph Smith, putting back as he intended it to be. And if we don't need a Prophet in these days to speak for God and help direct us then when did we ever need one as these last days are some of the most turbulent in the history of the world. Besides as a Catholic don't you believe the Pope speaks for God? Is that not what a Prophet does?

There were no prophets for quite a while - you know, the dark ages. When the apostles died who held the priesthood, who was it passed to? There was no one living to pass on the true gospel of Christ and the priesthood.
Joseph wanted to know which church to join since there were so many. Christ and God the Father appeared to him and gave him instruction on how to restore the gospel to the earth.
Section 13 of the Doctrine and Covenants:Ordination of Joseph Smith and Oliver Cowdery to the Aaronic Priesthood along the bank of the Susquehanna River, near Harmony, Pennsylvania, May 15, 1829. HC 1: 39—42. The ordination was done by the hands of an angel, who announced himself as John, the same that is called John the Baptist in the New Testament. The angel explained that he was acting under the direction of Peter, James, and John, the ancient apostles, who held the keys of the higher priesthood, which was called the Priesthood of Melchizedek. The promise was given to Joseph and Oliver that in due time the Priesthood of Melchizedek would be conferred upon them. See also Section 27: 7, 8, 12

Pope a prophet? Have you even looked at history, at all, even a tiny bit? Please look at the history of the Popes, all of them after Constantine. Most of them were horrible, did so much attrocities it is discusting to just read a summary of it.
Have you read how the position of the Pope was up for the highest bidder for several centuries? How much they changed the doctrine of the church?
For centuries they would allow permanent forgiveness for any crime for anyone rich enough to pay them, a prophet? yeah right.

Plus the fact that there is a three hundred year gap between the first "pope", Constantine (who wasn't even a christian but a pagan sun worshiper). Where did a sun worshiper get the authority to establish a universal church and change several doctrines? The Pope has no authority from Peter, the history gap alone proves it, if all the atrosities and hypocracy of the popes doesn't.

Going against the bible? Where is Pope mentioned in the bible, worshiping sainst, where is Cardinals mentioned in the bible, where are nuns mentioned in the bible? Going against the bible ,us, look at all that and hundreds of other things throught history. Mass torture, crusades, is that the work of the true church of God? If the Pope really is a prophet why are so many cathlic cardinals and bishops have different opinions about doctrine? If the Pope is a prophet then why do the Cardinals have to vote him in, he still had a large percentage against him?

Remember 1 timothy 4: 1-3, read it. I will quote some parts. " In the latter times some shall depart from the fait, giving heed to seducint spirits and doctrines of devils............3)"FORBIDDING TO MARRY and commanding to abstaind from meats.........

I seem to recall for thousands of years the practice that bishops, cardinals, all authority figures in the cathlic church are FORBIDDIN TO MARRY. Sound familiar with the last scripture? Seems clealy an evil teaching as stated by Paul, yet the Pope has taught this and allowed it for how many thousand years? LDS going against the bible....... maybe you need to get a grip and research your our religion before you rip on others?

Now look at history, almost every denomination of christianity has broken off from the Cathlic church or a branch of the Cathlic church. So if the Cathlic church is wrong all those who broke off with it are wrong as well. There are about 600,000 denominations of christianity on the earth, do you think that is the way God want it? Obviously the Pope ain't it, so what does god do?

God calls a prophet and educated him and gives him power and authority to teach the gospel. He has done this throught the scriptures, called prophets when his children fell away, to bring them back to the truth. So he has done in the latter days, the first prophet being Joseph Smith. We now have the same organization of christs original church, something no other church can or will claim.

You might ask yourself why you asked this question? Why are there so many questions and insults against the church on this website and throught the world? Some call us evil, those are uneducated morons. Anyone who can look at what the church teaches and does to help the world, and the sacrifices it's members make, and call it evil and insult it are not christian and people I would never want to meet.

Look at the history of the early christian church, have you seen how persecuted they were? It was horrible, horrible persecution.
Yet the same and yet similar persecution has hounded the church from the beginning. The members of the church were chased out of houses and lands dozens of times, while they were fleeing "christian" mobs murdered, raped and robbers the members of the church. The prophet Joseph Smith was not given any peace from the world and suffered most bitterly for following God. Until he, his brother and several friends were murdered in Cathage Jail. The mob who murderd them was let in by the gaurds without a struggle, no jailmen was hurt. He could not stand up in Cathage jail, nor was he even given blankets for warmth. He had to listen to the gaurds of the prison brag about all the murders, rapes and robberies committed against the church. Joseph Smith was in several jails for many years and never convicted of anything. You might have even heard about the law that was passed in missouri by Govenor Bogs. The law of Mormon extermination, we could be killed on sight, we were lowing than dogs to them. That law was dropped only a few years ago. This is just a small taste of what our ancestors have gone through. And we still have persecution and lies through against the church to this day. And through all of this the church stands, only getting larger every day. We are the most persecuted church on earth, one of the many signs of the true faith throught all the scriptures.

So, is the pope called of God?

if so, then why did it take so many votes for the Cardinals to decided on who to put at thier head? Why was there contention?
All of those men should have had a promting from Heavenly Father as to whom should lead the Catholics.

And, Mathew Chapter 16 is really telling us that we should know who Jesus is thru Heavenly Father's guidence, not build a church on one man.

As for the appostacy, you pointed that out in one of your previous questions - the 300 year gap between the Apostles and Constantine's formation of what is now the Catholic Church.

I have nothing against anyone of any other religion, but it seems like all other religions have problems with us? Why? If you don't agree with what we believe, then ignore us. If we come to your door, politely let us know that you aren't interested.

An aid to the pope comes in to tell him he has some good news and some bad news.
The pope ask for the good news first. The aid Say's that Jesus has come back to earth to reign in power and glory. and he's on the phone asking to speak to you.
The pope Say's "That's wonder full, I'll take the call, but what's the bad news?" The aid tells him it's a collect call from Salt Lake City, Utah.

First of all, study that chapter, and you will come to the realism that it was not Peter he was speaking of, but, the truth that He is the Son of God. The pope? Study your history, and it will show you that the pope is the head of the Mithralites, a pagan religion of sun worship, and that it was not the pagans that were Christianized, but the Churches in Rome, and Antioch, that were paganized.

First of all, The Church of Christ is not built on Peter..but on his confession

Matthew 16

15He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

18And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

19And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Anyone who confesses the name of Jesus is the church of Christ. We are the body...the foundation and He is the Head of that church. He is our mediator..not a man here who is elected and not a church governing body. The Catholic Church is the Apostate church as predicted throughout New Testament scripture and the OT as well.

The Mormon LDS "church" is just as corrupt.

Read your Bible and find the true meaning of the Church of Christ because according to scripture if you believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of the living God and you seek after Him and not yourself (turn from your sins and repent) then His blood will atone for your sins. You don't have to be a "member" of a religious sect of any kind to have the gift that Christ prepared for you. The Holy Word of God in the KJV of the Bible is all you need. In it are the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven. Love in Christ, ~J~ <><
