I am wanting to tone my stomach and arms.

For toning, the best exercises are isometric, e.g. yoga and Pilates, or lifting light weights with lots of reps. But if you need to gain muscle and/or lose fat (often a first step for those of us who are out of shape), you need to do cardio and weightlifting too. Well-toned muscle won't show if the muscle is buried under fat.

One good way to tone your stomach and arms is to some dynamic exercises such as those espoused by Charles Atlas.
Walking is another good way.

run that's the only way to get flat or six pack abs. sit ups tone muscle but you need to lose fat to tone your stomach or you'll just have fat covering the stomach muscles. It is impossible to burn fat in one specific body area so running will burn fat everywhere.
