I know people are going to answer with "He speaks to me" or " He speaks through me", but I am wondering why God doesn't have a thunderous voice that speaks to the mases and tells them what he thinks. Is God ignoring us or is he afraid to speak or has he chosen not to speak because he expects us to know what is on his mind because "the Bible tells us" or does he think we aren't worthy to hear it from him and so we get to hear his words uttered from someone who may or may not be interpreting his words correctly?

The art of listening is not popular in todays' "instant" society. However, He DOES speak to those who know how to listen, or who care to invest their time waiting on Him.

Well my interpretation of the Judeo-Christian tradition is that He doesn't talk to us because we're not holy or worthy enough, and that He talks only to those He loves or His chosen ones, like the prophets. Having followed the Christian path for some time, I've tried to make God talk to me by being good and praying a lot. In a sense I've got a reply - God has brought me out of the darkness of depression (atleast, that's my interpretation - my psychologist would believe in the drugs), and I believe its because I prayed, asked forgiveness, tried to change my ways, praised Him, worshipped Him, that's why He granted me respite from my illness. That's just my opinion: that God exists, and He is good, and will answer prayers - not neccessarily by speaking, but by teaching some other way - through events in your life for example, healing or whatever. I don't know the answers to all the doubts and "big" religious questions, but I have my (some might say irrational) belief.

It seems to me the last time He did so to the Jews who just left Egypt under Moses’ leadership were frightened to death from the experience. The thunder, lightening, earthquakes were rather ‘awesome’, to steal a term from the modern vernacular. They pleaded with Moses to ask YHVH to stop and to allow Moses to be their intermediary and He so condescended. That YHVH spoke in thunderous tones numerous times during the life of Messiah is also recorded, but even then few, if any, could comprehend it. I wouldn’t go about looking for any burning bushes or burnt mountaintops if I were you, but rather seek Him who speaks in your spirit in a still small voice. There will plenty of BOOMS and CRASHES yet to come, and some of them may indeed be His voice. One such word will be “COME “ revelation 22:17.

God has never stopped speaking to us. He never boomed out in a loud voice for all to hear. When you're needing an answer to a problem and it just pops into your head like a small tweak - that's God's voice. We often call it intuition - I suppose because we ar4e so afraid these days to credit God for what He does.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Timothy 3:16,17
All that God needs to say to us is contained in the Bible.

Who says God doesn't speak to people the way He did to Moses and other biblical people? It could be that people are not hearing Him whe he does speak because they don't have His word abiding in them. He speaks, but we have to close out everything and hear what He is saying. May He give you ears to hear

After sending the son Jesus Christ, and revealing the him to the world, he has become the mediator between man and God. Jesus has appeared and spoken privately to many people over the centuries. Jesus speaks most directly through the Pope and his Church.
