Start your computer in windows 98. Insert the windows 2000 installation CD in the CDrom. Select a complete install. Follow the directions and answer the questions asked during setup. When you get to the point of creating you partition then delete all partitions and create a new partition for windows 2000. This will remove Win98 in the process. Continue with install. Good luck and happy installing!

I beleive you can update without clearing off windows 98 which might even give you a better version of windows 2000. Myself I would just keep windows 98 until you could get xp because I thought 2000 sucked a little bit.

Insert the Win 2K CD and if it autoruns as it should, select advanced install to format hard-drive and you should end up with a complete version of 2K and no 98. However - you will lose all previous data that you had stored, so copy what you need to a CD.

Just restart the computer with the Windows 2k disk in it and it should automatically boot to the install section of that disk and that will format the disk before installing windows 2k.
