As many of you advised me, i asked the guy i'm dating what our "status" was if there was interest...and he simply answered :
"I still answer your phones calls, and your messages are carefully read and answered. does that tell you im not interested?"
are those really signs? Im confused because perhaps im used to having a guy literally tell me [with plain words] that he likes me...am i asking too much?

Why do you have to "muck" it up by asking him a question that however he answers...he loses. Why don't you just ask him the next time you see him, "Do I look fat in this?" Am I getting through to you?
The answer to your question is simple...HE'S RIGHT! If he didn't like you he would not go out with you or communicate with you in any manner. Let me ask you another question...Would you call him, e-mail him, or go on a date with him if YOU did not like him? So why do YOU call him, e-mail him, go out with him, etc....? could it be because you LIKE him??? Duh? Why do you want to mess up a good thing? I'd be VERY surprised if you two are still together in 2 months from now. HE LIKES YOU!...for now at least.

I wouldn't waste your time with him. If he likes you he should tell you in plain words. If he likes you, you shouldn't have to ask. If he likes you, he shouldn't be plaining mind games.
His answer is pretty much: I like you, but I don't want to tell you because I don't want a commitment.

He is telling you in very plain language that he is interested in you. he is saying he would not take the time if he wasn't. Guys can be jerks that way, but in his way he is saying he still likes you.

it is hard to say because 1 maybe he is scared to fall in love and he does not want to get hurt. 2 maybe he is not in love with you and does not want to be in the relationship. there are many reasons that things feel the way they do. my best advice is don't shower him with gifts just small tokens and see his reaction, because if he loves you nothing is better than wakiing up next to you or talking to you or just spending time with you not spending money.time will tell the tale of your fate. good luck
