i dyed my hair black, a while ago, and its starting to grow out but its going very slowly, about 45% has grown out. I have thought about getting the color in my hair stripped out. Is that really bad and damaging to hair?

black is the worst color to get rid of. The best answer I can give you is to just grow it out and cut off the black. but if you can't waite then i Suggest usesing a BABY BLEACH process from the salon. DON"T DO IT YOURSELF! because you will need to color it again a lighter color to bring back the softness after the process. This is a very slow process though but it works!

Any time you strip color out of your hair it is damaging. However, if you try to strip it with a stripping product which is less strong, and dye your hair to match that color (not black, but maybe a darker to mid brown) this may help from causing damage to your locks.

Well, stripping your hair is ruff on it and may make it brittle and dry. the best thing is to let your hair grow out a little more then cut off the black. It is the safest and less stressfull on your hair.

It would be very hard, and your hair wouldn't be the same. Getting your hair that dark, then taking out all the color in it can be very damaging. You'll need lots of moisturizers and shampoos specifically for damaged/colored hair once your done.

Try dying it a shade some where between your natural color and black to blend it. Then it wont be as noticable as it grows out.

no.. its not in some cases but that depends on you skin tone!!!! if your hair is a blonde shade it may be best to opt for a more of a suptle brown... my mom is a hairdresser and she always said love you hair in its natural shade as that is what defines you.. now i don't no about that one... as i too wanted to dye my hair black an i am a blonde!!!!!!!!!!

Go to a pro. and tell them what you want and they have the know how to do what needs to be done, it might take a couple trips, but they will have you back to where you want to be in no time.
